Hrm, I think my turbo ate itself...

So I think my turbo just ate itself. Going about 70 down the highway it started spewing blue smoke out the back. When I was able to get off the highway the whole underside of the car is covered in oil, as is my back window.

All around the turbo is drenched, and when I step on the gas it mkes this nasty spinning/grinding noise.

I limped it to work, which was actually the next exit down the highway. but now I'm in inver grove heights. Is it safe to limp back home to plymouth???

Also, no CEL has thrown yet, nor hs the oil light.

    HELP!!!!

my advice would to get it towed. you don't want that to affect other things.....especially if you don't know what is really wrong with the car yet.

also, do you have a stock set-up? any modifcations to the turbo?....

sounds like you might have blown out an oil line that feeds the turbo and the grinding noise is the turbo running w/o any cooling oil in it.

how many miles on the car?

Well Alice got dropped off at Morries Minnetonka yesterday. Hopefully I'll know a bit more of what's going on Monday. I really hope my extended warrenty covers it, esp. since the whole thing is bone stock.

Well if you're bone stock and have that extended warranty, there really shouldn't be any reason to worry.
