    Need help CEL p0301,p0303,p0304

after schoo today, i had the car run, the car shakes like usual, the CEL went on...went to autozone, they told me the codes are p0301,p0303 and p0304..but the car runs fine, cant tell the difference...so went home, and used my AP. it showed p0301,p0303,p0304 and p0300 ....

so any guys have any ideas??? i replaced my fuel filter yesterdya by myself, and replaced the spark plugs by bikerboy like 10k miles ago....

can i still drive it , or just leave it ? and i did research before i started this thread, found P0300 code means random/multipule misfires?

i believe those are misfire codes

    Could be sparks, or coilpacks

Misfire could be from several sources. i would test the coil packs. Maybe a compression test?

Kin, you replaced the fuel filter yesterday....that's probably why you are getting the misfire codes....

sometimes, when the filter is replaced the cylinders are not getting the fuel charge they need. it will then sometimes cause a misfire.

personally i would reset the ecu. you probably will not see those codes again.

Has nothing to do with the install. just happens sometimes....

again, this is just my personal opinion and I could be wrong...but I'd try it.

do a compresion test on it. i have an 02 wrx and it did the same thing for a long time. you would start it up and it would shake for a bit. i use to get those cods as well. i had them on all 4 cylinders. i changed the spark plugs, fuel filter, checked coil packs, changed oil, changed gas, reset the ECU pretty much everyhting. it finnaly one day broke. i had 0 compresion in cylinder 3 and it was really low on the rest. i have to get a new block because of it.... so i dont know that's just waht happened to me. good luck

EDIT: i also had my plugs and coil packs replaced by biker boy.... nothing with the install problem.... it may just be something worse.

Kin, if you want, I'll clear it for you, stop by. I'm at home still. I told him not to clear them earlier because when I went to have Brian troubleshoot the cel's I was getting, he couldn't because the codes were cleared. Changed my filter two weeks ago...no codes...but as Scuba has specified...it happens!

Doesn't the AP have the ability to clear codes, too?

Second on the compression test, I would get all four misfire codes about every other month or so, eventually a compression test and cylinder leakage test revealed a burnt exhaust valve.

reset your ecu....you can do it with teh AP OR diconnect your battery, hit the brakes while battery is disconnected. I think it's three times hitting the brakes or something. Make sure battery is disconnected for 45 seconds while hitting the brakes.....

    connect battery, no more cel.

If it goes away = fuel filter

If it doesn't go away = other issues

ok ...when i replaced the fuel filter, i forgot to put a towel underneath, the a little gas spilled out on the engine, then i used water to wash it off the gasoline....is it the reason why, im throwing CEL ?? or time to need a new block ?

did you reset your ecu yet or not?

It probably misfired once and cel just stayed lit
reset it and see if it comes on again.

p0300 is always a random misfire... when it says 0301, 0302 yada yada the number symbolises the cylinder....

guys...i disconnected the battery...then start the car again, the CEL is gone,, drove for 5 miles wit boost, and sat it for 5 mins. Turned it off and turned it on, no CEL. also used the AP to read CEL, no codes found car's engine sounds the same, and shake like usual....so i will druve for couple days see how the car acts...

    THANKS A LOT GUYS!!!

whenever u change something like that on your motor i would reset the ecu. so that way the ecu can learn the new product.
