    Need help: temp. went up

i think it just happened today, i was picking up my springs, i had the car running while im picking up the stuffs, i found out my temp gauage's needle went up the the 2nd top line, and went back down, ...up and down , up and down, so i stop at the gas station, and poped the hood, i put pressure on the radiator hose, it is sometimes hard and sometimes soft and the coolent tank still have coolent in it. and there is no coolent or oil on the floor. i dorve back home, and the needle stayed normal on the way home on the highway, didnt went up at all. but it went up again when i sit the car and let it run !!

NEED HELP!!!i cant figure this out?is this a major problem that need to be fixed? i dont wanna overheated while im driving. Can i still drive it ? cuz i need the car for school ~~

Check your fluid level and make sure your fans are working before you do anything as it's free to do both of those. If that doesn't seem to be a issue then post back.

thermostat was replaced and its still happening... did you replace all the fluids and check the fans like everyone else stated earlier? if so, your new pump could be bad still

the fans were not working at all ...my gf's Brother who is a Mitsubishi mechanic looked at it ...he used a pen with light bulb in it, when he touch the fuse plug, the fans worked fine, but put the reply fuese back in, the fans wont work ....new pump still bad ...?? i dont think the dealership have warranty for that, cuz its has 18k miles on the new pump !!

well i am positive the fans arent helping at all, i know my fans turn on and off frequently, and Eli's WRX fans are on and off ALOT, i would get the fuse situation figured out and get the fans working again, if it persists, i think the pump could be bad again.

Ok, just a little heads up. QUIT DRIVING THE CAR!! The fans kick on at 210-215. I have had my water temp up to 225 and my needle in the dash didn't move. I can only imagine what the water temp really is if you are pegging the needle in the dash. If you keep driving it with the water temps getting that hot, you will break stuff. Get the fans thing figured out. If you have power at the relay you should check power at the fain connectors. Also, make sure you are checking the correct side of the fan relay. One last thing, if your water temps go up, they should go back down while you are driving it. If they do not go back down at speed, you have some kind of blockage in your fan/radiator/ac condensor system.

bp morries has the same discount as mtk, might as well not risk hurting the engine by over heating it all the way here when BP is right down the road from you.

well after doing the thermostat and running it it still got hot while trying to find out what was making another noise... the coolant was definitely pumping thorugh the system so I dont think there is an issue with the waterpump... the fact that the fans DID NOT kick on at all the whole time it ran in my shop bothered me most... unfortunately I aint good with wiring stuff... so I sent him to the dealership as their daig equip will work it out better....

We started with the thermostat as that is usually the issue 90% of the time, but seeing as that didnt fix it I didnt charge him and sent him on his way... man I hate when the solution isnt found.... CHOKIN keep me posted..

guys it takes too long to wait for the dealer to look at my car, so i decided to bring it somewhere else...so i stopped at a mod. shop, and had they check out the car. The fans were workin suddenly( its weird,im pretty sure it wasnt kicking on at all) , but the car is still overheating ?? they couldnt figure it out ...they also found out the topper radiator hose was warm and hot, but the lower one is COLD!!! sometimes there is pressure in the topper hose ,sometimes doesnt. ...can you guys figure this out ? Need new head gasket?

Chokin, just calm down and bring to the dealership to look at it...Trust me you'll end up breaking something and costing more $$$ in the long run if you panic (like a chicken running with it's head cut off). It may cost $$$ or not depends if it is a head gasket issue etc. The Subaru Dealers have all the necessary tools to diagnose the problem...Just pay them and get the job done right the first time...Bring it to MKTA or BP for the MNsubaru discount I'm sure they will do there best...

Remember a mod shop knows what will void warranties and some will know how to make your car into a time bomb...IMO I don't trust any local mod shops here, not just yet...
