Need help with ignition

Went to start my auto 98 forester yesterday, key wont turn, tried every suggestion I found on several forums and no luck..

If anyone here has a different ignition cylinder or a way to wire up a button Ill pay ya and provide whatever you need while doing it. I have the title in my name etc I can prove ownership etc.. I just need a way to get to work tomorrow.. Im located in Chanhassen

 

will the steering wheel move back and forth during ur attempts to turn the key

 

Check youtube for film to hook up a push button ignition. Is the vehicle parked on a steep hill?

 

the steering wheel wasnt locked at first, so I kept turning it until it did lock but wont come unlocked now.

the key goes in fine, but wont turn once in the ignition..

the car is parked on a slight incline but I tried rocking the car back and forth and it would roll a foot or two and had the wife turn the wheel and try the key while doing so with no luck..

 

update....

just tried wd40 instead of the other reccomended lubricant/cutting agent/product/aerosol spray that makes **** work again

the steering wheel has now come unlocked but the key has not turned and will not turn...

 

sprayed more, still no luck with the lock..

I work in minneapolis so if anyone lives closer to there and could drop off an ignition cylinder with key that works by my work then pm me your price and that would be sweet.. or if anyone wants to stop over during the week ill only be free early mornings or late nights.. I will most likely be ordering the part tomorrow night though if I cant get it running..

or if you work at a shop and know you can get it sooner then friday let me know as well since both subaru dealers I called and both parts stores I called all told me they cant have it sooner then friday.

It must have been all the wd40 and prodding around that you did that loosened things up. Its like when you sit at a slot machine forever then as soon as you go broke someone sits down and hits the jackpot. You were just warming it up

 

made it to work today and no issues on the way home either.. bring on the snow
