I have a 07 wrx that started running rough and will not idle. every once and a while a missfire code would come up figured it was from having a light weight flywheel. I changed the plugs and while I did it I also did a compression check all cylinders checked out good. I looked for vacuum/boost leaks but couldn't find any. Any ideas? Thanks.
Coil packs? Which cylinders get the misfire? If one cyl is consistently getting the misfire try swapping coil packs around and see if it follows. Also applies to injectors. Fuel filter clogged? Intake air fikter? How many miles? Any other mods besides flywheel?
The missfire is random. The car has 78000 miles. For mods it has intake, exhaust, tail ewg, uppipe, tail bov, and a tune by fullblow performance. I'm going to change fuel filter tomorrow.
When my fuel pressure regulator was bad it would throw 1,2,3,4 misfire codes mainly 1. Not sure if that helps or not.
I checked mine by swapping in a different one lol. Mine would leak fuel and cause my car to not start up immediately, not sure if you smell fuel or have start up issues. But from what i was told if you have a fuel pressure gauge installed it will read 0 when the car is off if its bad, not sure if that's true or not. My fuel pressure gauge would sometimes read 0 when off and would flop around from 35-45 psi at idle.
Not really smelling fuel, car runs like **** won't really idle at all backfires and exhaust smells like fuel,
Found a vacuum line under the intake manifold that came undone what a pita. found it by spraying starting fluid when car was running it would rev up everytime I sprayed under the intake manifold.
Do you have an ODB II reader? I would invest in one of those. I can thank @ShortytheFirefighter endlessly for making me purchase one. It will help steer you in the right direction. I have the PLX KIWI and it works great with a few different apps.
You can borrow readers from parts stores for free, you just cant leave the parking lot with them lol.
