Hey guys my name is Solomon, I currently live in Duluth for school, and this morning while I was driving 02 wrx (180xxx miles) to petco and white smoke was coming out of my hood. I pulled over and checked and it looked like it was coming from the radiator and there was some left over water on the radiator as well. I also checked my coolant and oil and they it looked fine. Not really low or anything like that. So my question is, is there anyone in duluth who has a garage and is more mechanically inclined that can check if my radiator is cracked? or mybe one of my hoses are punctured. Thanks Please PM I would like to get this problem resolved asap because school starts in a week.
pretty much a guarantee its the top of the radiator has separated and started to leak. Happens on virtually all 02 wrx.
Good all alumn aftermarkets are easy to come by and install. Plus car runs a lot cooler with the increase in size.
No need for hoses unless they are hard and you can see little cracks in them. Ill let others chime in on radiator brands. I havent a clue.
Some of the aftermarket radiators are too big and run too cool for the car to fully warm up in the winter and blow warm air...ESP in Duluth. I can't comment on specific brands, but just be cognizant of that while you're shopping and read reviews.
My roommate runs a Mishimoto radiator on his 02 wrx and gets warm heat. I think it is more of an oem alternative than a uber performance radirooter
Thanks I have been looking around and reading up on them. It looks like the Alum Mishimoto radiators will be the best for me at this point. Thanks a lot guys for the help. Solomon
