    Hi everyone!

I bought a 2011 WRX five-door a month ago. I needed something more practical than my 1995 Miata.

I've had AWD, turbocharged, and manual cars before but it's the first time I've had all three features in the same car. I'm loving it so far. Finally, a reason to look forward to winter!

When I ordered my 2011 I was torn between the red and the white. I had already had a red one so I decided to go with the white. Every now and then I still wonder if I should have gotten the red. Nice looking ride!

I wasn't too picky as long as it wasn't silver. Morrie's pointed me at their big ol' wall-of-incoming-cars and told me to take my pick, and the car with the options I wanted just happened to be red.

With the exception of a BMW 325xiT that was blue, every car I've owned has been black or dark grey so the red is a nice change of pace.

Oh man, now that is a good looking ride! Nice color as well!

    A little advice...

    1. Go somewhere ASAP and get a clear bra across the front fascia, I'd do the hood and fenders as well if I had it to do all over. The paint chips very easily.

    2. Be very careful when pulling into a parking lot (or out of one) that has a steep grade from street to sidewalk... I cracked my front fascia about a month after getting the car and it seems to be something that has happened to several owners of this model. Apparently it's made of glass .

    Photo of the damage

    3. Replace the wipers, they suck and are even worse in the winter.

    4. If you haven't already, go buy a set of snow tires, have them installed and prepare to have one hell of a good time this winter.

    Also...

"Take your pick"? "Wall of incoming cars"?

Oh how the times have changed, when I got mine last year they were so hard to find that Morrie's couldn't locate a hatch in the entire Midwest. Had to settle for a sedan that had to be shipped from Omaha... wanna trade:).

    1. I was planning on it at some point. I'm procrastinating as usual.

    2. Noted. I have a driveway with an incline so I'll have to be careful.

    3. Also noted.

    4. I have Dunlop Wintersports on Sport Edition F2s so I'm ready to go when the snow flies.

Sedans suck so I'll have to decline your offer. It's five doors or nothing.

Having read up on the cracked bumper issue, I'm wondering if a lip spoiler might be the way to go to help prevent some of the cracking issues. I'm also wondering if some sort of reinforcement in the cover skin (strips of plastic epoxied in) might make a difference. I'm not looking to blow through concrete, but I don't want to deal with a cracked bumper because someone looked at it funny either. I may look into expanding foam also, that may be an easier alternative to add stiffness and would be pretty easy to apply.

Nice looking car. The red color can be very nice when done right.

I've also thought about what could be done to reinforce the area. If you end up trying something please post the results. I'm wondering if applying the 3M material (that was used to fix mine) to the problem spot before there is a crack would help? It would certainly be a cheap option to try.

I've already got my bumper cover clearbra'd. I think I'm going to head to Home Depot tonight to see what I can find that might work.

Welcome. Nice car. Another thing on the list would be HID kit. You could get DDM kit for $55 shipped.
