Hey guys, I just picked up my '11 wrx this weekend. Its been a long time coming but this is my first Subaru. I dont plan on doing much in the way of heavy modifications as this is my commuter car but I will do some work to it. As of now I am looking into getting overlays for the tail lights, possibly a front rock guard, possibly tinting and new tire/wheel setup(s). Down the line I will probably drop it (during the summer), new exhaust and a new intake.
Nice looking car. I would read up on what Mods you plan on doing before doing them. There is a lot of knowledge here, and other places on the internet (3Gwrx.com and NASIOC). Things like exhaust and intake require a tune, you can't just slap them on and drive like you can with Honda's. So feel free to ask questions and use the search features ..... not everything you read is valid, but there is good info out there because someone has already done what you are thinking about doing to their car.
Great looking car! "I don't plan on doing much..." its a fever and very difficult to avoid catching with these cars. Welcome to the site.
Thanks guys, and thanks for the heads up about mods. Spunk, I think I saw your car on 61 by lake phalen last week. My plans are to do very little to this car and get a project car to sink most of my money into.
Do you work at cummins in fridley?? Someone just picked up a new wrx and parked 1 car away from me today (09 red fxt). Russ
Nice looking ride, I have the same car only in white. For taillight overlays and clear bra, contact Chris at Flawless Frontends, he's a vendor here. He did a bunch of great work for me and his pricing is great. Flapatax makes some great flaps for our cars and there are getting to be more and more options out there as far as exhausts go. You'll want to get some snow tires soon. Those stock Dunlops are not going to work once it gets cold out. We've got a tire group buy going on with Venburg tire with some great pricing.
That's too bad, it will look like it has 100k on it in less than 6 months. Cummins needs to sponsor a driving clinic. I have had more ding and dents in my car since I started parking by door 8 (6 months), then I did since I bought the car brand new. So are you out on the floor, or are you in the office? I am out on line 22. Russ
That sucks, I will have to be careful where I park. I work up in the office, I am an engineer. Line 22, is that T-Rex? I will have to come down and visit for a bit, I am still trying to get my bearings on the floor.
Yep, line 22 is trex. I am usually doing all the housing stuff at the end of the line (more towards systems). Russ
Sweet ride, great color! Start shopping for your winter tires now, they can be harder to get once the snow starts to fly.
Is that the plasma blue metallic paint? I thought that was only to be offered on the STi! Sweet color. It will look great with a fresh wax.
Thanks for the compliments guys. I am working on getting some winter tires (steelies and generals) which will probably be just for 1 or 2 winters. The color is Dark Gray Metallic, it just looks blue because of the angle of the sun and the camera I was using.
Did you happen to get that car at Morries Minnetonka Subaru? I test drove that car and really really wanted it. I came back a couple of days later only to be told it sold that weekend(Last weekend). Awesome car, I'm jealous. I'll just have to hold on to my 2005 RS Wagon for a few more years.
I did, I wasn't planning on buying this particular one but it ended up working out and I jumped on it.
I have to ask if you had your money down on this car before you decided to buy it. It pains me to think a mechanic at Morrie's took a drill to the front of your car.
Oh, I was just noticing the front license plate bracket. I noticed after dropping my car off the other day at Morrie's they started mounting brackets on the front. I'm assuming it's the same on the WRX as the STi. Beautiful car, nevertheless...
It was nice to meet you and glad we were able to work it out and get both our cars done at the same time. How did the clear wrap turn out for you sir?
Thanks bro, it was nice to meet you too. I am really happy with the way it turned out. Yours looked great too. The overlay material I got on my tail lights looks a little weird in certain lights, so I may opt for a different material, but Chris does great work!
