Whats up guys! I currently don't own a Subaru at the moment, I am looking to buy an 04/05 STI or an Evolution 8/9 in 5-6 months. I joined the forum to gain a little bit of more knowledge about Subaru's. My current car is a 2003 G35 Coupe 6MT ( Sorry for the crappy picture, I don't have a good camera and rarely take pictures ) I was looking around the market for an STI/Evo but I could not find a non salvaged and non abused one for a decent price so I went ahead and bought this car as my first car! (Good choice for the summer but terrible in winter. Its fun but scary at some times) Hopefully I should be able to get a AWD car, RWD is fun but its a pain the the winter! Help me decide! STI OR EVO =O
I agree that the Evo's are faster but the boxer engine and the low rumble is what gets me into wanting an STI.
There are the ups and downs of the car. But over all its nice, quick and takes turns really well. The tone that the stock exhaust makes just gets me. The bad side, window motors tend to break (3 days after I bought the car the driver side window broke, thank god for extended warranty. The motor cost around $250 by its self) Other than a squeaky chair, bad window motor design, and money spent on the back tires, its great! Since this is the 1st gen G35 coupe there are problems but I am sure 2005 and up have gotten rid of the problems the 1st generations has.
If you're just getting started get a Subaru, if you're seasoned get an Evo. Get some winter tires and you'll be fine, a rwd can stop shorter then an awd.
^ what he said. Also you can swing by a meet or two and recieve some good advice there... Maybe even a ride to see what you would be missing.
I didn't get any time to get a winter set-up. I literally bought the car at the end of fall. I got the DWS's, there great but scare the hell out of me sometimes. Also Subie, I know what I am missing, hahaha the BOOOOST. Ever since I drove my friends speed6 It pushed me even more into for induction. I will most likely stop by one of your guys meet, I love the WRX's and STI's.
