New owner of an 08 Legacy GT in Satin White Pearl. Bought down at Mankato Motors last month. Good dealings with them. Car is bone stock with 45k miles. Was going to keep it that way for now, but I already bought an Invidia catless dp and Tactrix 2.0 and now shopping for a quiet catback (or may keep the stock cans). I couldn't help myself I guess. Probably won't be doing much to the suspension. I'd like to see it slightly lower, but I have a long commute (Ramsey to Eagan) and like the stock suspension comfort. Cosmetically, I'll be doing a xenon headlight retrofit, tint, wheels at some point, and some other little stuff like some debadging and removing the pin stripes that it came with. Maybe try to ditch the spoiler.

Been lurking a little. I know there aren't a ton of Legacy owners here vs the WRX/STi folks, and I'm probably an old man compared to the typical member here (38 and counting), but wanted to say hi!

This photo was from the dealer. The wind deflectors were swiftly removed!

Welcome to the site. I have family in Ramsey so you may see me around. More so in the summer vs winter. I am guessing daycare (grandma) will have me driving out to Ramsey more when the weather is nicer. Don't worry, there are a few of us 30+ members on the board. It isn't all young kids.

Make sure to talk to you tuner about your plans for the car. We are lucky enough to have some great shops around here. Don't waste your money on an off the shelf tune when you can get something specific to your car/setup. Finding a tuner and working with them on your current/future plans will save you a lot of money in the long run. Doing it right means you don't end up buying the same aftermarket parts more than once when you plan ahead. I'll suggest working with NF Performance. There is a pretty large following in this club and a lot of happy customers. Quality work and honest people goes a very long ways!

Welcome to the site Dan. Are you originally from the Ramsey area? Did you go to Anoka High School by chance? I work in Ramsey off of Sunfish Blvd so I'm sure we are bound to see each other at some point. Nice to have you on board and I hope you enjoy your stay.

P.S. I'm 37 so your not the only old bastard on here :)

Oh, and I've already heard a lot about NF Performance. I was planning to do an e-tune (give them my list of mods and have them send me a file), but I will definitely consider a local tune.

Local tune is better in a lot of ways.

#1 support a local business that are part of the local club
#2 they are local... problems, questions, tweaks, upgrades... the benefits are instant, the help is available, everything is easier vs email
#3 they tune your cars specific setup. an "e-tune" is not specific to your car, so it is not the ideal tune. Do the healthy thing for your car.
#4 money - I am guessing the local shops will be cheaper for you in the long run

The list can go on if you want ;) It's your car, so you make the final call. However, 99% of this club would suggest sticking with a local option. Which local option is always the debate

Talk with Nuke, he is a good guy. And won't cost you a ridiculous amount of money. Had him do a "stage 1" tune on my ride, he knows what he is doing.

Welcome, another lgt owner here to. I wanted an 08 or 09 but it was out of my price range back then but that's a nice looking car.

Local Tune Shop is Devoted Auto Works in White Bear Lake, ASE certified and has a subaru himself. You won't be disappointed with his tunes.

Ok, since we're on the subject, what would I expect a local tuner to cost me for a single tune with a DP and possibly cat back but otherwise stock? Just ballpark. My last car (Volvo V70R) had an off the shelf tune that I was not happy with, so I already know the drawbacks there. But for Volvo, there are a lot less options out there.

It depends on where you go.

I would suggest sending a PM to NF Performance or Nuke to get a quote.

Ha, I used to drive a Bonneville. Actually I owned two. The second one got stolen after about 3 months of ownership. Right out of the park and ride at Foley. Seemed very shady. The police reviewed the security camera and the guy apparently just walked right up and drove it away like he had the keys. They questioned the previous owner but doubted he was involved. Never recovered. That's when I got into Volvo's.

On a sidenote, I will definitely be tuning locally. I didn't realize how reasonable the costs were.

Thanks silver03. Hope to see you around!

Welcome Dan! If you see a black Saabaru w/tint down in Champlin, that would me. Or ya might see my wife in her Legacy 2.5i SE; both are 'marked' with a MN Subaru stickers on the back. This club has been an invaluable resource for me, I hope you get as much out of it as I have!

Ok. I just caught a glimpse of a black 4th gen Legacy GT or Spec B going east on Bunker Lake Blvd in Anoka by 7th Ave. Anyone here? I was going in the opposite direction. I'll post this in the spotted thread too.

Hey Welcome! Good to see another North Metro guy around! Were you at the Anoka post office last week?? I walked out to my 07 LGT and went to unlock it and nothing happened!! Then realized it was too clean and MYYYYY car was parked right next to another very nice clean LGT. I also have a black STi you might see the tail lights of in the summer ;)

There is also a shop down in Burnsville a bit of a drive but well worth it with probably the two most notable Subaru techs around. Ron is the tuner has done many of the high HP # cars around the cities and Matt (bikerboy) who knows more about these cars than any person in the cities. Great guys to work with, shop to hang in and a dyno to give you a graph on!!!

Good luck with the MOD bug cuz when it bites your DONE!!!

    Cheers

Understandable... I actually found mine in Chicago, had a buddy check it out and then bought a one way ticket and drove her home! Traveling to purchase a vehicle is an enthusiast "bucket list" item IMO. I was a little nervous but excited the whole drive back, haha.

Done that twice. Once out to West Virginia for an 86 Jeep Grand Wagoneer (miss that truck) and to Ohio for my 99 V70R.
