Hi, pleased to meet ya'll. I bought a '05 Black LGT MT with 42K miles in 2010 and have finally caught the modding bug. I've been lurking legacygt.com for the past two years trying to separate the knowledge from the noise (really, pretty good info over there, and a lot of noise....). After messaging a legacygt.com member located in Minneapolis a couple weeks ago with respect to a body shop recommendation, he recommended that I join MNsubaru, so here I am. Quite frankly, I know very little about cars, but I am mechanically inclined, reasonably smart, and damn good at following instructions. Working on my LGT has been my new hobby – something new to learn and have fun with. I drive to work about 3 days a week and bike the rest of the time – it is only 3 miles (probably not so good for the car, but don't hate me) -- I put about 6000 miles a year on my car, so I plan on keeping this car for awhile.... Anyways, I'll be primarily lurking here now, with a little contributing where I can. Cheers, dang0 So far: + ProSport Mechanical Boost Gauge (with a sweet vent gauge pod --> this one http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/gauge-pod-idea-173943.html?p=3684815) + "Bullet Proof" reinforced stock TMIC (yep, it messes with the BPV tube – need to do something 'bout that) + Plasti-dipped grill (but didn’t like it) + RRev mesh grill (getting it painted next week) + GS Master Cylinder Brace + Leptronix Audio-in Jack mod (this is really pretty awesome btw) This weekend (in my garage – high of 55 with rain!): + CNT catted downpipe (had Rob's Custom Powder Coating ceramic coat it for me – he's great btw) + GS ceramic coated uppipe + GS EBCS + GS turbo heatshield + DW 65c fuel pump + Infamous e-tune (at least the base map flash after installing the bits) I'm interested in: + Clearing/blacking out my headlights – anybody local do this or can help me do it? If not, somebody on legacygt.com is pretty cheap.... + higher flow injectors + E85 tune (probably new clutch then too) + adding sounding proofing to my trunk - any suggestions? + cleaning my SS exhaust tips (saw a nice how-to on here) + Lightweight crankpulley (only because they look cool) + Hella Supertones (because that's what subi-people do?) + LCA bushing replacement ('cause mine are cracked like everybody elses) OMG – I'm so risky!: + I use 5w-30 G-OIL (animal fats!!!) + I use OEM Blue Subaru oil filters (I heard they use cardboard!!!) Editted: GM->GS
Welcome! Might be hosting another headlight baking/painting day so keep an eye out for that. For soundproofing contact Ted "Gridlocked"
Since when did General Motors (GM) make a Master Cylinder Brace, Turbo Heatshield and uppipe for the subaru? Unless you meant Grimmspeed (GS)
I believe that was me you messaged over there! btw I am a female not a male and welcome! was the leptronix mod easy to do? I want to do it as well.
>GM Yep, Newbie status confirmed -- all GM should be GS. I edited my original post. >I believe that was me you messaged over there! btw I am a female not a male and welcome! was the leptronix mod easy to do? I want to do it as well. Thanks for directing me this way -- sorry about the sex mixup.... I suspect you get that a lot on these forums. Leptronix mod was pretty easy after doing it once -- I recommend it over the other options on legacygt.com.... It seems to be the most clean. I put the switch on the driver's side of the center console, the jack in the center console box, and ran an ipod cable from the center console box to the cubby, where I have a pro-clip for my iphone.
Yes, do the Supertones! They look nice up in the grille. I also enjoy taking risks by using the Subaru OEM filter . Oh and if you like gauges.....A dark picture but I have three EVO prosports gauges mounted in the center dash-love the gauges!
Thanks maybe I will give it a try, once I find some spare cash, burning cd's is just not cool like it used to be.
welcome... bring that legacy out to Calhoun some time and show Emily your special plug in... http://mnsubaru.com/threads/lake-calhoun-fun-in-the-sun-tuesdays.18916/
