Alright...I have a gc8, while I was taking out the taillights (switching to JDM) I encountered some kind of plastic/rubber glue that is stuck on there....BLACK colored.... How do I take it out nicely? I tried using a screw driver but it's too complicated....Is there a way to take it out faster and way cleaner?? Pretty much the plan is take out the rubber sticky thingy and putting it back on the jdm tails. If i choose to not put it on, it leaks in water, so I assume it is there to stop rain. I need to know ASAP as I'm working on it now and it's my daily driver. Thanks in advance!

It's OK...Just push it out...there is no special way to take it out...at least when I took mine out I didn't have a problem when I put them back in....but interm of moving the black glue give it a shot to swithching it over to the JDM ones...but if u don't succed then I suggest puting wat ever u can think of to basically seal it up...how about 3m double sided tape..

I just found this old pic of mine of when I took them out...and it seems that the black glue stayed on the car...so maybe u should just take them out and see where they will set...hopefully on the car...

well mine looks pretty dirty...and I bought some more of the black thing to put it on. But I would want to resale my OEM tails and was wondering how would I get it off? Also I would definately have to put more of hte black thing because when I had my jdm tails on for awhile today water leaked through already.... So should I leave it on the car and add more on the jdm tails?

well...I'll put a lil of the black glue thingy on the jdm tails just so it holds up and hopefully my father will let me burrow his car for a couple of days to let it dry... Thanks again.

If you go to AutoZone, there is a product called "Permatex-Black silicone adhesive sealant/Item #81158/16B." I've used it on the headlights when putting them back together after painting them. Very good stuff for an air tight seal...don't know if this will help you in your application here, but wish you luck with your problem!;)

the black stuff is a urethane caulk. it comes in containers just like bathroom caulk. you can buy it at most hardware stores.

Yeah I bought the black "urethane caulk" but I was wondering how do you take it out...Like wondering if there was any special way instead of scrapping it off. I just don't like the fact if I become careless on taking it off, I will scratch the tails or my car.
