Just picked up a lightly used 2009 Legacy 3.0R Sedan. NICE motor. Very smooth. Flat 6 > Flat 4.

    That is all.

Actually, one more thing: Does anybody know of any quirks I should keep an eye on with the 3.0?

The 3.0 is bulletproof, count yourself lucky you didnt hold on for the 3.6. Subaru cant design a head gasket for the life of them. Lucky We know how to fix it right.

Of course... I'll see if I can snap some tomorrow or Wed. :p

I do like the linearity of the motor. It's very smooooth. The transmission modes are...interesting. "Intelligent" mode is basically "I'll shift when I finish my beer" mode. Sport# is pretty sweet. The difference makes pressing the S# button while passing on the highway pretty fun. It pulls really well at speed.

That's what I've heard. The 3.0 is apparently super reliable. Timing chain, very well balanced, no head gasket issues.

The 2005-2009 looks a lot better than the current gen too.
