    i have a 2002 wrx

im going to try and explain this the best i can.

i am at a stop and as i depress the clutch pedal and gas to go. the car makes this whine noise as the car lurches forward. the noise only occurs for about a second if that. this only happens from a stop in first.

does anyone know what it could be?

i was gonna say it's your syncro whinning but you are at a dead stop...... if you can't figure out the problem, sometimes changing the fluid can change it all...........

Does it make this noise under hard acceleration? My guess is center diff.

If you just changed your clutch, did you have the flywheel machined or replaced? Did you break in the clutch properly?

the clutch was broken in properly for a solid 600 miles. i did not machine the fly wheel though i know i should have.

would an uneven flywheel cause the noise though?

What kind of clutch? Ceramic or cerametallic clutch disks often have a whine, squeak, or chirp to them when starting off.

Could possibly be a throw out bearing. Dunno how durable they are on the wrx, but they tend to squeal on the N/As when they're gonna go out. Might only be audible in first since engine/drivetrain noise might drown it out at higher speeds.

its a carbon kevlar material, segmented.

i replaced the throw out bearing along with the clutch.

im clueless guys, and the fact that it only occurs for a quick second makes it a little harder to diagnose.
