noisy 2nd gear?

    2nd gear talks to me, 05 LGT.

    wondering if subarus just have talkative transmissions, or if i have an issue. It's definitely gear whine, quiet in first, loud in 2nd, gone in 3-5. it holds fine, it's not jerky, shifts smoothly in and out, it just makes noise.

    normal? or do i start running around screaming now?

    You could drain the fluid and see if anything comes out. The transmission fluid could just need to be changed as well. This would kill both of those birds with one stone.

    You can pick it up at morries mtka subaru. They have a very fair price considering they sell it by the qt and it comes in a 5 gallon drum.

    I have the same thing...just got my 05 LGT registered today and that 2nd gear sure is chatty!
