I'm bummin I missed this weekend - sounds like you guys had a blast. I was in Grand Forks driving an '05 RS rental wagon cuz a curb trashed my front rim and suspension last Friday about two blocks from my house. Some guy decided the stoplight was optional for him and he needed to go through the intersection sideways right at me.
So, ANY IDEAS FOR FRIDAY, from todays wheater prediction it looks like 37F with a some light snow, does anyone have any ideas?????? I just want to be ready
im guessing not even an inch will melt off the snow, if it melts during the day, it'll freeze back at night.
i seriously think if we do some talking to some local companies with big parking lots...they would let the club put up some cones and what not for an exchange for some advertising on the site or some other form of compensation. Does anyone have any family or friends that own a local company with a big parking lot?
My company has a good sized lot (some loose rubble) that is used for motorcycle training in the summertime. It's located off of 52 south and a block south of Plato. This past weekend, a guy was there racing around the lot with his remote controlled car. Ya, that lot probably won't work out to good. You/we will get to much crap from the cops. That is right where everyone used to drag race all the time, so it will be a problems. Wether or not the boss says it is ok, the cops will try pulling something. Russ
If it is a privetly owned lot and we have offical permision, I don't really think we'll have any trouble, but we would have stop other cars from entering somehow...That is if other cars see us in there..
But somehow you still have to prove to the cops that we have the ok to be there at 10pm at night. Remeber this is the usa, you are guilty till proven innocent. If it is during the day, we won't have any problems, but that is a very well know spot to drag race. I think a bunch of imports will throw up the drag race red flag. Russ

hey fong i think as long as you have a official letter stating that you have premission to be there, to show to the cops it'll be okay but im sure they'll try to find something to nail us on....is there like a local neighborhood around the area? because if there is i think the neighbor would complain about the noise....
Just have a cell phone and the boss's number ready.....cops wanna do anything, give the boss a ring...let the cop talk to him.....they'll leave.
Guys, I need some help typing a request to the facilities manager. The guy I talked to wanted an email so he can bring it to the person in charge. I can do it myself, but I don't know of the time of day or the time we'll want to keep the lot for. I'll want to do this during the daytime, because I believe they don't want anyone on their lot after dark in case something happens and it's not viewable on their cameras. Also, I'm thinking a maximum of 4 hours is good enough. This same guy approved the motorcycle training on the same lot, but remember that the motorcycle trainers have staff to be there incase a problem arises. We won't. I just want this to be a one time event, unless it goes well and he approves additional days in the future. Please, give me some suggestions or sample emails to use. What can I add to the email to be convincing enough for approval from the big man? I would like to send this by tomorrow evening.
this will be cool if it happens. when you draft the email. you should be very polite. explain what you want, and give details. you dont want the boss man to have any questions as to what will be happening and what could happen. make sure you identify yourself and the club. sample idea: Dear, Boss Man (use real name), I _______ _______ from the Minnesota Subaru Club (www.MNSubaru.com) would like to request the use of your parking lot for a club meet. this meet will essentaily be a fun and exciting event for all members of the club. If we are allowed to use your parking lot we will bring with parking cones, and other similar obsticales, which can be easily set up and moved, in order to create a small course with which members can practice their driving skills. I am planning this event for approximately #-# members from teh club. i am planning on carrying out this event on Month, Day, Year. We will bring all of the Materials we need for this event, so nothing will need to be provided for us except the parking lot. since we are bringing our own materials, there will be no need to leave obsticales in the lot, so the lot will be left as it was before the meet. Taking Murphy's law into mind, we will plan safety measures to esnsure a safe meet at your parking lot. we will have first aid material readily available, and (list other precaustions. maybe include somethign about cellphone to call paramedics if need be ect...) Then someone should type up a liability letter stating that Minnesota Mutual Life will not be responsible for any damages or injuries in relation to the small event. It should also note that the club will cover any damages to the land/property.
