I think you need ice to ice fish... Which in my experience is more considered ice drinking.

Soooooo, what would be the minimum one would need to do a little ice fishing? I've never gone and wouldn't consider it something that would take over my every last free moment but would like to maybe give it a try. About all I know is the fishing poles are tiny and you need a hole in the ice.

bare minimums... ice fishing pole, some jigs, a ice auger. to have more fun? you'd want a flasher to find fish and a power auger for easy cutting.

Yes i bought my flasher used. but it came with a new ice ducer.

badbenny, When the ice is good and thick, shoot me a PM and we'll figure out a time that works and I'll meet you out and show you the ropes.
Auger - hand augers are cheap and they'll put a hole in the ice.
    Poles - no-brainer
Tackle - a couple jigs, bobbers, hooks and bait.
Whenever I see someone with a hand auger out there drilling away, I usually go over and ask how many holes they want in the ice and drill them for the guys. and have accepted a few bucks as thanks. :D You don't NEED a shelter or a flasher but they're awesome to have.

When we use to use hand auger, we never get that kind of help. Once we brought shelter, flasher and gas auger. People would come and ask us question and normally they see a pile of fish.

List it in the for sale threads... it will sell, but remember to price it (or else).

EDIT: as I read this again... I now ask myself if you are offering to sell it or you are enviting other to join you in it?

Apparently the north-west side of Minnetonka is starting to freeze over but it's too thin for this guy.

Was up north and caught plenty of 10-11.5" crappies. The ice had a good 5" and some 5 plus inches of clear ice. Can't wait to get back onto the ice this weekend!

would the ice be safe with the warming temps? i went by a few lakes and a few had open water and the rest had some kind of water on the ice.
