no trunk key? There should be a hole to install the Key hole in the CF trunk...

take the back seats out and crawl into the trunk with a flashlight and trigger it open. Back seats are only a few bolts.

haha umm about that, i have 2 subs built into the back and i dont think i'll be able to get back there. i might end up having to take all of it out wich would be a pain in the ***. i can hear somthing clicking when i pull the trunk release its just really limp.

no i mean they are BUILT in. the old owner had them customp put in in the back. They are joined in one giant box and stretch the entire width of the trunk and there its a particle board cover in front of the covered in carpet. its not just one of those dual boxes with carpet around it. haha i wish i could take a pic of it all but then my problem would already be solved

is there any way i could take it to a shop and they could find where the line is broken and repair it or somthin cuz i'm pretty sure the line is busted because there is no tension in the release

Have someone pull up on the trunk while you pull the trigger for it.

I'm betting it is not snapped, it takes quite a bit to snap those lines. The plastic button usually breaks first.

10 bucks says that you triggered the "cancel" feature and now your effed because you don't have a key cylinder in it. If you hit the cancel tab on the lock assembly when your screwing with it, the cable inside the car doesn't open it. You have to open it with the key.

    Time to move them subs!

Sounds like you flipped the valet lever on the trunk latch. Don't really know how you are going to fix the issue since you have the subs in there.

Can you take the lid by the back window off somehow and reach an arm thru and un-hit the valet switch?

not to piss on the fire here, but does anyone else find the adding of CF parts to a car with obvious weight ADDITIONS (read subs/box) seem just a little pointless? unless you like the look of CF, most tuners in japan actuallly paint the CF and kevlar parts that they add for weight savings.

    Just wondering

Just an idea, but if you can't get past the box you might be able to break a tail light and reach in?

I just looked at my car, the Drivers' side light would have to be the one to go, you would be able to flip the lever from there, I got inside the trunk and confimed that you coudl flip the lever with the trunk closed, at least with the stock trunk.

I also tried setting the lockout, when I set it I could hear the a tap in the trunk area when I tried the inside release, so I would have to say that I agree with the general concensus

step 1: get a cut off wheel

step 2: use it to rip apart your sub box through your pass through

    step 3: open your trunk

step 4: buy a new subwoofer box

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but its cheaper than a new CF trunk lid. you can probably do it without damaging the subs.

or just macguyver something to reach over the sub box and trip the lever...... this shouldn't be that hard to do. Don't the new Subarus come with a glowing handle for children to pull if they get locked in the trunk? my 02 doesn't have it.
