    Hey yall,
    Bought myself my first Subaru the other day. 97 automatic Impreza Brighton w/2.2l @ 172000 miles with the expected amount of rust for MN at those years.... a lot :) scored it for $1200 would have been happier with a grand but AWD was worth the other 2 bills, i think?
    I normally am a Honda guy (99 Prelude SH) but I think I can dig on a Subaru. Intentions for this car are just a winter beater that is reliable. Friend of mine that has had a few Subaru's says the 2.2l is a great engine that will run a long time so I hope he is right.

    Is there a generation or year range specific place to post questions about my car?
    Anyone know of a decent mechanic close to St. Cloud MN?

    I know about computers so if you guys have a question feel free to ask. (turn it off and on again)

    2.5rs is a different website that will help with those years, or you can just post something on here, there are tons of GC, GF, GM (impreza, outback, legacy) models running around myself included

    How's your fab and wiring skills?
    Anything is viable, but that motor is not plug & play.

    Fab = 0 Wiring = decent
    So I guess I am looking for something that is more plug and play. I would ask you guys this, What would you do with the car?
    Keeping budget in mind of course.

    You could put the h6 six engine those are pretty nice it's a little less wiring. Or the 2.5 n/a turboing is just a huge hassle you have to change almost everything

    Well it would have been cool to have a turbo but I guess I will have to get another Subaru for that. So sounds like I will just stick with this thing and be happy. If this thing does well this winter I might need to jump ship from Honda.

    Okay I assume that is a junkyard, not a moving company. Unless there is an olympic swimming pool on the roof?

    Ah excellent I already plan on hitting up the junk yard. Need a new passenger door handle and some hub caps lol :)
    Sorry to be lazy and not search but which Subaru has the 2.5 in it? So I can ask while I out and about today. Heck is there a preferred St. Cloud junkyard for Subarus? What am I supposed to call these things too? Subie, scooby, roo, rice burner :) or is there one i have missed?

    you can boost the 2.2 na motor. do some digging on 2.5rs and dirtyimpreza.com. many people have boosted the 2.2. so long as you don't run more than 10psi of boost it should be fine.
