I finally got my car to quit smoking, :) :) it turns out it was the oil catch can. I dont know why it would make it smoke the way that it did. I was checking out the turbo yesterday to see if it had a blown seal and decided to pull the catch can off.Started it and it didnt smoke,i went for a 40 mile drive today and no smoke at all. I was rady to pull the turbo off and send it to FP for rebuilding so im glad i didnt.

What would I have to run for a catch can? I had the perrin one but that doesnt seem to work. Im just amazed that such a little thing would make it smoke so bad.

Its really wierd that taking out the catch can fixed the smoking issue. it baffles me. however it is awesome that a little fix has removed a potentially huge problem.

why no just run without the catch can? sure there will be some more oil in the FMIC and in the intake but your car wont smoke like mad.

It baffles me too, but I hooked it up again and it smokes. Unhooked it and it stops.

Right now none of the lines go to the intake, they are just vented to atmosphere.

the way it WAS hooked up was all the lines were hooked together and the hooked into the catch can, I dont think that was the proper way to do it.

the crankcase and valve breathers were all Teed together.

Maybe the lines that the PErrin can uses are too small?? Try bigger lines and make a custom catch can?

The lines do look alittle small, right now i dont know what goes where. I have a big mess.

Do you have any idea on which hoses go where?
I have found alot of diagrams but they are all for topmount intercoolers, with lines running back to the air inlet. But I dont ahve anyway to hook back into the air inlet:ugh:

I was under the impression you needed dual cans for a setup like that. Is that not the case?

I'm running mine the way you have yours setup right now, Rich. No catch can, the breathers on the heads have 1/2" rubber hose leading out to the fender walls venting to atmosphere. I may run a catch can eventually, but for now it works fine.

thanks, I was just afraid running them to atmosphere would hurt something, but I guess not

Rich I'll talk to you tonite and if its the same design as mine I can tell you where they go. The Perrin lines are too small causing their cans to not work from what I have heard and went through.
