Okay so today I took out my intercooler so I could replace my top pitch mount with a new one. I look in my intercooler where it hooks up to the throttle body and i see a drop of oil(LOOKS LIKE NEW OIL).

sounds like your turbo is shot....its from when you had your MBC on there and your boost cranked up so high the turbo literally was blowing HOT MOLTEN AIR, no its not covered by warranty, at least not after what you posted here.

that "whining sound" you always complain about is probably your turbo doing the death whine.

Small amount there is common place. You'll see a lot of people put catch cans in to stop that.

That "drip" probably cam from a lots and lots of air holding oily moisture substance ... And just collected in the intercooler.

It's more than likely oil from the pcv system -- both of the head breather lines and the block breather are routed back into the turbo inlet.

Every top mount I have ever pulled off has had a small amount of oily residue in it. As long as it's just a small film, I wouldn't worry.

I like to make sure that my intercooler is well lubed up, so on the weekends I like to squirt about a quart in there for good measure. It helps the air slide through more, and helps the lubrication. (Postwhoring FTW!)

Yeah. Using Synthetic Air is better then just the conventional air

As long as we're on the subject, do the catch cans work, and are they worth it?
Part 2, what is the best way to clean the IC and intake if they are gunked up?

is it easy enough to take off your inlet pipe and check for shaft play?

Nope. The stock inlet pipe is a complete PITA to take off without breaking any of the nipples.

It's probably easier to take off the downpipe and check for play from the turbine side.
