My XT is using a little anti freeze. It's in the shop and they say they dont think it's the headgaskets because they just replaced them. With the cooling system pumped up it leaks a little and they can see it in the exhaust after the turbo. With the plugs pulled they cant see anything in the cylinders and none of the pludgs are washed clean. They all look the same. They are thinking I have a cracked turbo housing. The turbo was just rebuilt last summer. I dont want to pay for head gaskets again for nothing. Every now and then it puffs a little white smoke. Goes thru about a cup of antifreeze a month. I have another turbo on my parts car so I can change housings. I also have a couple stock turbos laying in the shop. Guess thats the next step huh? Any ideas?

if you have extra turbos i would definitely do that before you pay to have more work done. maybe upgrade to the td04?? ;-)

    Hmm

I was going to do the TD04 upgrade but I changed my mind and had my stocker rebuilt. It was blowing oil. Sold Curly the TD04.

Guess I will try changing the housing, it's easy enough. BP Subaru, here I come for gaskets.... :)

It's not the turbo. Well, it could be the turbo but the way the center section is cast the coolant would go into the oil drain.

Most often it is a cracked head in the exhaust port. :ugh:

I might even have a set of heads around here somewhere.

If your thinking of replacing the turbo, it isn't much more work to pull the head pipe off and look.

    Well

Might have found the problem. Pulled both valve covers and retightened the head bolts. 3 bolts took at least an 1/8 of turn before clicking the wrench.
    Will have to see.
