So I ordered a 2013 WRX in mid January this year, and they were pretty good at convincing me at St. Cloud Subaru it'll be 8-12 weeks on the wait. It's the 12 week this week and I have not heard anything. Why is Subaru so slow at producing ordered cars!? It's pretty crazy I guess. I'm trying to patient but damn.
That sucks but why are you asking us what's taking so long? Sounds like a phone call to the dealership is what you need. Let us know what they say.
I ordered my 2011 the first week of April and didn't take delivery until July 1st. When I ordered my car the plant was shut down due to the earthquake and they weren't even sure if they were going to produce any more 2011's at that point or not, and there was no ETA. I'd be really surprised if you don't see it soon. Have they even given you a VIN number yet? Keep in mind, part of that wait is a few weeks for shipping the car over, sorting it at the port facility and having it trucked from Vancouver, WA to here.
Ordered my brz 2nd week of Feb. Took possession last Tuesday. So its not all cars. Also they do have a factory in Indiana.
Well, they got back to me finally and I got a date of and of April. So It'll be almost 4 months of waiting. I just figured there 8-12 weeks was a standard thing and they are always within that window. Its just what was explained by the salesman. But, I will end up waiting until end of April. So how was it for you guys when you got the car finally?
When I ordered my 2012, they told me "approximately 8 weeks" so I was prepared (expecting?) it to take about 10. It came in about 7 so I was pleased. I think a lot of it has to do with the luck of timing. They probably don't build WRX every day or every week. They may wait until they have XXX orders to fill and build them all at once. That is just speculation on my part, obviously. The plant in Indiana only builds Outback and Legacy (and Camry). All WRX (and Impreza, BRZ, Forester) still come from Japan. Guess I'm not sure on the Tribeca but they hardly build them at all!
Yes they have a plant but it makes the legacy, outback, camary only.(if memory serves me right) the Imprez, wrx/sti come from Ota Gunma, Japan.
I ordered my 2013 in mid October and it arrived in early December, about 7 weeks later. They told me 5-7 weeks.
