It happened... the wrx isn't so pretty looking anymore.

I was heading to Quang's for lunch today... I was taking a left hand turn and hit some black ice (the worst thing that nature made). The back end slipped out and I tried to counter steer but over did it a little. My car jumped the curb and took a tree out. The tree smashed the front bumper, cracked the grill, and bent the hood.:mad::mad:

Can't wait to see what the insurance says about this...

I don't have any pics right now but I will be posting some later. I'm alright... just a little pi$$ed I lost control of my car like that after spending the night snow drifting and having complete control.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should just have my insurance company pay for the repaires or cut me a check so I can do the repairs myself.

Thats what I was thinking as well... but the bumper I want it just a lip and not full replacement... unless they made it in full bumper as well.

Anyways... here are some pictures of the damage.

it doesnt look that bad. Your car will live!!! just have your insurance cut you a check and give it some aftermarket parts! or if you want to go stock look again let them fix it.

I lost control of my car from some black ice and over steered. The car jumped the curb... the tree was between the curb and sidewalk.

That's one thing I'm trying to decide. One of the problem is the brace behind the front bumper is bent in. If that wasn't the case I would just have them cut me a check. I will see what happens after I take it in to check out the damage.

you mean the bumper beam? that can be replace, as long as your chassis isn't damage in any way, Shouldn't be a problem. Just get another stock bumper beam.

95% of the time if the beam is bent it will pull the frame in with it.

    Sorry for your loss

I didn't even think about bumper beam... most likely that is bent as well. I was talking about the beam or brace that the radiator is bolted to is bent.

Honestly I think it would be just easier for me to have them pay for the repairs then cutting a check for myself to do the repairs cause I have taken the bumper off yet to see of bad the damage is.

The black bar underneath that is shaped like a U with the ends facing the back of the car? That's the subframe. I think its like $250.

That bites they didn't fix your ride man. I don't have any problems doing the work myself but its just called TIME and I don't really want to deal with the metal work that needs to be done. I going to bring it to the dealership in Minnetonka for them to do it and have them check the engine as well cause it sounding a little funny after I hit the tree.
