05 lgt 120k new oem caps, thermostat, hoses, coolant changed last week. Original radiator Car popped the upper hose off and broke the radiator hose connector(neck). Clamped what I could back on and came home. Bleed system of air by opening up the radiator cap and running the engine/heaters while adding coolant. Temp gauge went down to normal and it drove fine after that, 60 miles without overheating. Today its overheating again. The upper hose is burning hot and lower hose is cold. Both caps and upper radiator portion are barely warm to the touch. Not sure if it's the thermostat not opening up or the radiator(though I need a new radiator now)
Ring land failure Or not... I'd start with the thermostat and hope its not the pump... Did you do the t-belt yet and if so do you do the water pump with it???
I think its the thermostat, it drove fine those 60 some miles yesterday and didn't overheat today until about 10 mins at operating temperature. T-belt and water pump replaced about 50k miles ago and everything else including a new thermostat, I replaced again last winter(November/December)
Just started it and added some more coolant and it's not overheating and now the lower hose is hot like it should be Thermostat must be sticky and opens when it wants to Now I just need to find a new radiator and thermostat. Should I stick with oem radiator or go aftermarket? Just a dd and where can I find one quickly
