"P0103 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit High Input " Threw this code yesterday when I went boosted for the first time in a long time (trying to max MPG). Cleared it and threw it again today when I said F it to MPG.

Is cleaning my MAF a waste of time since its def. happening when a lot of air is being pushed (prob due to the colder weather.. its a cali car)

Is there any way to upgrade my MAF. Would a wide band remedy my problem?

Wideband gauge is what it is. A gauge. For you to monitor. Its nice to have but wont fix the issue.

Bigger maf intake is the next step but...before we get into that

    What is your setup?

I've seen cars throw this code if another aftermarket MAF is used instead of the factory one.

Start simple/cheap. Spend $8 on a can of MAF cleaner and see if it does the trick.

Okay, so we've narrowed it down to something turbocharged, but we dont yet know if it came from the factory with one, we dont even really know if its a Subaru......Seriously, more information, ****.

Its a swapped GC....its a 2.1 build (don't know what block it is or who built it) one of the JDM vf turbos iirc? Sorry for the vague info but its just the little I remember from his car when I saw it.

Sorry foe the lack of info. Thanks Ryan. It is 2.1 with a vf28. Front mount, CAI, 3" exhaust, acessport. During dyno days I got 285tq and 275 HP at 21 psi iirc (those numbers could be switched). Built and tuned at garage tuning in CA. first winter here.

Funny - My sister's Bugeye just tossed this code. She does have a new OEM MAF, but I am pretty sure there is a boost leak that is causing the code. We replaced her Inlet and I think there is a leak between the MAF and her TB. I'll know more tonight when I dig into it.

I toss this code quite frequently when boosting in cool temps, from what i understand your turbo is moving more air then the stock maf can read. I have a wideband and my afr are fine during my pulls when this happens to me, so theres nothing to worry about for me. I however cant say the same for you, you may be running lean when you throw this code, and that as we all know is not good..

I should say I noticed the typical Boost Leak symptoms with my sister's car. Not hitting peak boost and hesitation in WOT.

I could hit peak boost fine before it got cold. The first time I threw the code i was pulling in 3rd. When the cel came on my power just dropped and I let off the gas. Stayed out of boost till I got home.

Should not be maxing out on that setup. Even 20g can use the stock airbox without maxing out the maf.

    Id pressure test your system.

Thats a good idea... I took it out today and did a 3rd gear pull.. didnt cut out the first couple times.. but there was defiantly a hesitation/stutter during full boost. Is that a tall tell sign of a boost leak?

Ok guys. This is really puzzling me. I thought that it might be due to my CAI sucking up some water and causing that CEL because it started around the time I signed up for the paradise unlimited car wash. But it happened again today! Good thing I had my AP mounted and ready to go so I took some logs. I dont know how usefull they will be since I dont know which attributes to log, but I did find that my IDC is over 100% at some points. Would that cause my car to buck and cut power sporadically under load?

If anyone is willing to take a look pm me your email so I can send the logs over.

I'm no expert but I'm gonna say yes. If your maxing out your injectors. Which seems to be the case.

ok drove to my friends place (where i am at the moment) and did some data logging on the way. No symptoms and injector duty cycle was at 80% for all 5 logs that i did. What would cause my injectors to go crazy one moment, but fine in another. My engine was warm from driving home from work.... maybe that was it.
