I just noticed i have a paint bubble on one of the wheelwells. One of my friends told me that there is some kind of solution that you can put on paint bubbles and they go away. does anyone know how to get rid of them? Thanks, Taras
I would try putting some lemon juice on it!, Seriously have you checked your muffler bearings lately is your blinker fluid low? If you have a bubble you need to sand it out to see which side it is moming from and repaint the area.
its probably rust, I know it all too well having owned a honda and repairing the infamous quarter pannel rust spot. Fis it before it gets worse. Post up some pics too, there might be an easy fix.
You don't have to repaint the entire quater panel. It generally can be blended, but that is best left to a proffesional. The clear can be blended as well, but you need to know what you are doing.
yeah I would not attempt this unless you know a little something about blending and feathering, like the other guys have said, the paint surface somehow got compromised and rust is forming under the paint, or it could be the clear coat lifting, but they look completely different, the clear coat lifting will look like a bubble on the surface, not one from underneath. Please don't take a rattle can to it, unless you don't care how it looks, not many people can make a rattle can look that good.
there is no way i am touching this deal myself! I just wonder how much will it cost to get it fixed. It does look like its rust under the paint.
that looks like the worst type of rust- from the other side. you need to get in there quick and fix that before it gets much worse. I would take off the rear bumper cover first and look at the inside of where the bubble is started. looks like about 400 to 500 worth of work depending on how you decide to fix it possibly more.
Wow, thats what I really was scared about. How would a body shop fix it? Would they use bondo or this can be fixed without it?
all of that is hard to tell, you need to do a little investigating to find out what is going on in that area. It's better to catch this now than fix what comes later.
yeah, i will try to take the bumper off and see whats there. How would i go about taking the bumper off. I don't even know how to do it.
i bet they do. All car manufactures give a warranty on rust. i mean not on rust but that the car will not have rust till certain amount of miles and years
yeah well, i need to figure out what to do with this rust deal. how is the bumper holding to the quarter? How do i get the bumper off on that side?
clips, just bring it to a body shop, it sounds like you have zero experience so i wouldnt screw with it, as it is a PITA.
yeah, i am not planning on doing the bodywork myself. i will only take the bumper cover off and see whats under the fender. It will save some money if i bring it to the shop so they wont have to take the cover off. Do anyone here know a good cheap body shop?
A filler (bondo) usually isn't needed in cases like this. The metal probably isn't rusted through. It just needs to be sanded down. A buildable primer can be layed down fairly thick and blocked to match. Blend the base and clear, and after a buff, maybe a wet sand, and you'll never know it was done. But yeah, it could be in the $300-500 range, depending on how much they have to do.
A decent amount of it. They have to blend the paint, which means sanding out a ways from that spot, otherwise the repair will be obvious.
well I brought the car to an autobody(raymond auto body) and was told that it will cost me around 2 grand to fix. The car was in an accident and when I bought the car it really didt seam like a big problem. However I looked at a repair order and it looks like there was a ton of work done costing $4500. The work included the quarter panel that was repaired and that is now starting to rust. So now I have a question, the shop has life time worranty on body work, shouldn't they repair it for free? The repair was done in 2003 and the car changed owners. The guy at raymond could tell right away where the repair was done and he said it was not done realy well. There are lots of dust specs and some sand paper scratches under the clear coat. So what so hi guys think are my chances that I will be able to get it fixed for free or with a big discout?
yeah I know it might be a pita, but I called Shane the guy that I bought my car from And he told me that he will help me with the problem. All the repair was done through state farm and it was their recomended shop, the car is still insured with statefarm right now. So i the shop refuses to fix it I will go the the insurance company.
well I guess they will have repaint the entire quarter panel and after that blend the door. Plus they will have to remove all the moldings guards and door handle. Lots of work.
well I guess. But it looks like they did a lot of work that first time. They did put new bumpers and new fender and fixed the quarters but I guess they didnt do it too good. I mean the paint is bubbling now and there is obviously rust starting plus there is a ton of dust specs everywhere.
