    is it better to get a electronic CEL fix or a a non permanet one that just fits into the downpipe?

    I assume you are referring to the P0420 trouble code. Probably the easiest solution is what they call the "mechanical fix"...search on NASIOC for that phrase, it will yield directions. Basically involves a couple of spark plug anti-foulers and some drilling.
