Picky State Troopers

So i got pulled over today on my way back from my house to college. Just got the wheels put on and he got me for everything possible. Window tint. My tint eyebrow, exhaust, tinted plate covers, xm radio on my windshield, Even my parking permit hanging from my mirror. And besides the fact he was on the oppsite side on the highway. I hate minnesota laws. He tells me today that legislative is passing a law this month for NO window tint allowed in MN. There so rediculous!

*The funny thing is as soon as i said i was going to school for Criminal justice he gives back my lic and says well ill give you a warning!!!:eek3:

He told me it was to loud, that he heard it on the otherside of the highway with his window up........ I dont believe it, its just a silencer my cat and everything is still there.

 

he gave you crap for a windshield brow? thats pretty bogus you are allowed to have one as long as it is with specs.

yes that law better not pass, but he gave me a written warning with everything on it. Im not going to change anything, maybe take off the plate covers when i get on that area again otherwise im in ND for school and they could give a ****!

I think it's less the car and more with being a "kid". When I was 19, the same thing happened and the same crap was written up. Now, being older, I don't get a second look. They look for excuses to hassle kids. Tint is an issue because cops just don't want to get shot......no biggy.

 

so who you gonna call when someone steals your ride??? or breaks into your house...

The A team! I should of mentioned them lol! No maybe not i would of ended with a nice ticket them im sure!! But to all yes it sucked but im ok with a warning anyday. And as far as the tint, there is so many cars around that have it they will never be able to control it!

 

wow, you are lucky! two weeks ago i got ticketed for tint, speed, exhaust and air freshener on my rearview mirror. i was hoping she was gonna be nice but i was dead wrong! now i gotta go fight it and at least get some of it taken off

I agree. if tint was really an issue they sure as hell wouldn't allow it on suv's. it's just an old law that was never updated....and now they are using it to their advantage to drive additional revenue for the state and cities.

 

my wife's car has something like 0% tint and she has never gotten pulled over for it, you are doing it wrong

 

why waste your time with tint, carpet seems legit.

Actually, the SUV exception is just an old relic from the days when SUV were real work vehicles. It doesn't change mainly because of grandfathering issues and DOT regs (can't make DOT legal cars from the factory illegal).
Tint is not really a moneymaker at all.

 

I guess so, either that or they have bigger concern for different laws, here in ND i dont think there is any law for the stuff i got pulled over for, maybe just the exhaust...

 

And plus if you think about it, with MN being a fairly low crime state they dont have much better laws to enforce or pass... (Its true)

just got mine tinted... 50% front 2 windows, 50% rear 2 windows and the rest was already done.. looks like 50%

Gjerdes in Burnesville did it.. they have done all 3 of our cars so far.. great work and good prices...

anyways I got chatting with the owner regarding this legislation and he said they have gotten the first part thrown out, but are still fighting it.. they need our help...

he did give me a link or site but I can't remember it where we can go... He said there is NO proof that tint has caused the fatality in a road stop,,, NON IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY and the State trooper who said so on WCCO blatantly lied....

that we also have a right to protect what is our and is inside our car... the Cops have NO right to be able to see into your car within any of the Amendments or constittuionally!!!! I have a sheet from him that shows where people can go to be able to petition against it all... will try to scan it or type out the info later... maybe start a new thread
