My car was almost swallowed by a massive pothole as I was changing lanes on 94E yesterday, right by the Lexington Pkwy exit...and this has happened more often than I car for. I am sure all of you have experienced this.

I bring it up because they are saying we might have one of the worst pothole seasons in recent memory because of the temperature swings and lack of funding or something for the roads.

Anyways, I saw this link the other day on channel 5's website..kstp.com, and they give you the links to email a spotted pothole. I actually got replies back, and a few days later the hole was patched up.

I would highly suggest that all of you do that so that we don't kill our cars and the low pro wheels etc. I guess this goes for everyone...but some people just plow through those holes without knowing the damage they can cause.

Fill their inbox with pothole love!

I always hit 3-4 Potholes on 94 because I always forget which lanes they are on.

they are on all the lanes, and getting bigger ... they'll be patched but that will cause even more problems. It's all part of the cycle of car life.

but this is a good idea, especially for all those deep ones.

thanks... yeah it is part of life and part of the car life cycle, but it seems worse this year. it never hurts to point out to these guys where the bad ones are. a lot of people cruise around with the mentality that they already know about it and will fix it, but its often not the case.

The potholes will just get bigger even if they patch it, because water still manages to get under the patch of asphalt that they fill the hole with which freezes and cracks.

They have money to fix potholes, but there are too many. So that is why it seems like they are not getting fixed.

About 5 years ago I had a friend that bought a new white S4. Not because he knew anything about cars, but just because it was a "...fast Audi..." and he'd just sold his dot.com company and had some cheddar to spend.

Well, he hadn't had it for a week when he thought he'd gun it on a frontage road...a pothole at least a foot deep sheered off both passenger side wheels.

Actually, the issue is that a permanant fix won't cure properly in winter here because it gets so cold. Need to wait until summer for a proper fix. The temp fixes are literally as good as you can get until spring.
And yes, those report websites are remarkably effective (largely because if they have notice of a pothole they don't have any defense when you sue them for the wheel that bent on it)
Do note that MNDOT is only good for highways. Cities tend to have thier own and for non-highways you report to them.
