05 LGT, 115k on it. Anyone here replaced one of these yet? I think mine is tanking. I have flushed the system, (old fluid didn't look too bad) replaced the belt, and will replace that pump intake hose o-ring next. I replaced that o-ring last year, so that's a last ditch effort before pulling. Remove pulley while still mounted on car? Any other insight appreciated. Why do I think it needs replacing? Loud squeal on start up and difficult steering under slow speed load.
As a follow up to this it turned out to be that I did not have the belt tight enough. The top two pulleys (alternator and power steering) are relatively close to each other and the belt felt tight enough there. I finally checked on the section of belt between the crank and the power steering which are much further apart and the belt had a whole different level of tension...or lack of. Live and learn and five 1/2 turns later on the the tensioner...zero issues for 4 days.
