Ok so I'm having problems with my power window. I'm not exactly sure if this is where I post my question but I figure I'll give it a shot anyways. So unfortunately the other day, my front passenger window wouldn't close anymore. It does not go up, or down with the passenger switch or the drivers side "master" switch. For a long time now the passenger switch rarely worked both closing and opening the passenger side window so I controlled the action on the driver side. When I took off the door panel I looked in the wiring that connects the motor w/ the brains of the cars and there was tons of gunk in the connecting prongs. I tried to clean it but with no luck I just ended up cutting the wires and splicing them together. It worked for about two seconds and stopped again. So I figure it's my window motor that is dead, correct? If so, does anyone know how to exactly replace it? Or does anyone know of a manual that I can look through? It's a very tight space to work in and I'm not exactly sure which bolts to take off and keep on. Any little bit of help is greatly appreciated!
just buy a new motor and replace it, they are pretty cheap if my memory serves. this is from previous experience, never on subaru's. remove door panels (duh) peel back the plastic wrap that's glued to the door so you can get your hands in the door get your window half way down if you can, sometimes you can manually do this as you press the button and pull down on window mechanism unscrew the screw connecting the window to the holder, then remove glass might be a pain in the dick if you don't have framless doors. unbolt all bolts holding in the rail/window tracks and motor unplug window motor and remove the tracks with motor reverse engineer this list with the new parts. once again, not sure what the subaru's inner door guts look like. Just going off past experience replacing glass and ghetto tinting my past vehicles.
side note, when you reinstall the glass portion if you have frameless windows, shut your door softly to assure you have the proper adjustment on the bolts for the tracks as they can be adjusted slightly on some vehicles. Paint markers work well on the bolts.
I have a working passenger window motor FS(assuming that you have an Impreza model that is an 02/03...not sure if the part number on the 04-07's are the same, but they probably are.
