muahaha sniped ya! Ive been here for 2 days now. My suby loved the drive, and I didnt have any problem with it. I would definately do your maintenance before you leave though, and if you're turboed, stop before you hit the mountains and unplugging and replugging in your battery or the elevation. My car didnt adapt at ALL to the elevation and not only would it not hold or hit boost, i'd have to dig a gear, sometimes two, just to find enough power. Now that I'm here, the heat is killing the tune I have. It hit 115 in the shade today. I feel terrible for my car so I dont even drive it...ha. I'll upload pictures of my trip as soon as I get a better connection. I'm stealing someons connection in my barracks right now, and its weak. I dont want them picking up on it either or I'll be paying for it very soon.
Glad to hear you had a good trip. You will have to get someone out in Cali to get you a tune, so you are safe in the heat.
does the heat change the density of air that much? i would think it would be the change in elivation that would make the difference, could you explain?
Heat is a factor in knocking. Cars tuned near the limit in extreme temps will often knock. In some of the open road racing out in nevada (they're held in the summer), 100 oct is sometimes run because some cars ping on premium
I'm going to be buying quite a bit of octane boost, just in order to keep the car from knocking. Its pretty bad out here, and I havent spooled over 4500 rpm since I arrived. I found a shop that will tune my car. they are located 100 miles from here (2 hr drive) and so I'll be heading out there this coming weekend I would imagine. I gotta wait on a few more paychecks before I start ordering parts.
oh geeze...I have a laundry list of stuff I want to do over the next 3 years. When she rolls back into MN as her resting place, she's going to be a monster. Jeremy, you been to firestone? You could have someone ride with you and just tell you whats going on with your tranni. Thats the first place I would go since everyone is close, and so many of the guys that go to firestone are either really good with soobies, or are morries techs anyways. Try that out man, its free. Or ****, put a post up in mods/tech and find out that way
yeah i'm going to go to the callhoon meet tomorrow and the Firestone one on Friday, i'll have someone tell me whats up, the clutch just doesn't feel right, hope my joy riding hasn't messed anything up.....
