Good work. I hate those damn 4eat's they weigh like a thousand pounds. I was gonna pull one yesterday, then I said F-it, it's StatGSR's car, not mine. So what is next on the list after the 5spd swap?
sweet! they looked different when i was under the car yesterday (the motor mounts, the other stuff looked like it was the same). but I was a few beers in by then
stock motor mounts look a little different (the rubber part is a different shape). but they're interchangeable.
Yea the stock legacy mounts are fugly. Looks like a few hockey pucks stacked but they are more flexible than a plastic bag.
we had trouble seperating the transmission because of how much the engine would move dan, what'd ya get done today?
Well, thanks to some help from Kent the 5 speed is in. I put in the rear end the other day so that is all set. 4 axels, drive shaft, pedals and hydrolics and it is ready to go. I will be plenty busy getting it ready for Sunday but it should be ready to go.
congrats dan. i grabbed the motor mounts so stop by on your way home from work. i couldn't find the other stuff you asked for, must be in carls garage
dan what else are you missing? I pulled everything out of the truck except what's in the cab and all i have our my tools and some of dave's stuff. also, good work on getting the transmission in!
:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: It runs, drives, shifts, and turns! Thanks to all of those that helped with the trans. swap. I couldn't have gotten it done without you guys. Special thanks to the Ziptie team for helping me drink my beer. It's all set for the next rallyx. Just need to get my rally tires back from Carl. I can't wait to drive it in the dirt. Unfortunately with the welded diffs I could only take it for a short uneventful drive on the street. I did find out that 4.11 gears really help get her up and moving. The Ver. 4 Sti 5mt has extremely close ratios. Now I just need to wait a week to really give her a beating.
Well it's loaded and ready to go for the rallycross tomorrow. Thanks to Dave from Gearhead Graphics for coming out and helping make it a little nicer to look at.
Goodluck Dan!!! Wish I could be there driving it! And I'm glad the transmission is working for ya. Let me know how it feels after giving it a go
Car is looking good. Dan is getting real close to having an official ice race car. Mark and Dan with some help from a few friends have been putting the cage in the car....what an incredible transformation this car has gone through since the night we test drove it last winter. Excellent job Dan!!! Sucks i forgot the camera again
The things we'll put ourselves thru just to have some fun. She looks great! Can't wait to hear back how she does on the gravel.....Enjoy!
I've been playing with it all year. Not too shabby so far. The welded diffs and 5mt make it a whole new beast. Now to get some decent suspension to go with. If all goes well the cage should be finished tomorrow night (fingers crossed) I can't wait until next Sunday to go play in the dirt!:yumyum:
big thanks to mark utecht for helping us out with the cage. Sorry I couldn't come today Dan but from what I saw Saturday things were shaping up extremely well. Ice racing is going to be a blast!
Yes, very big thanks to Mark. He has really done a lot to help this project happen. Thanks to everyone that has helped get the Tleg together. Rallycross is a blast but ice racing is a whole different level of fun. I can't wait for the season to start.:nana:
Well i found out that painting a roll cage is the worst job ever. Now that it's done the padding can go on and the seat can go back in. I also mounted the rear fog lights but got lazy and didn't wire them yet. The car is getting there slowly but surely.
Well the VF11 crapped out at the last IIRA event so I figured if I'm going to replace it I might as well go bigger. TD04 and an 06 WRX top mount. I'm keeping it at stock boost levels for now considering the car has 215k on it. Should be good for a few extra HP's. Reliability is really what I am after, so hopefully this does the trick. The filter still needs a prefilter and a shield to prevent ice dust from getting in but it's late. Tomorrow is another day.
no more secret huh!? it should be fun this weekend. i hope the track is big enough t stretch the legs of this turbo
So my old turbo still works eh? Looks good! Any issues with fitment or using the modified pipes i gave ya? What did you do for the BPV?
the new intercooler looks so out of place on a t leg, its awesome. cant wait till rally x season. car looks good Dan. -Dan
Kent: No-name BOV using one of the flanges you gave me. Fitment was OK, needed a bit of massaging here and there. I did take the Y pipe apart and replace all of the clamps with T bolts. Rerouting the vacume lines and breather lines kind of sucked but it worked out just fine. Piddster: I'm not using the brake booster I bought from you. It is too big to fit without a bit of hammer work. I am using the bigger master cylinder. I really want to get rid of the booster all together but I just haven't gotten that far with the car yet. Tall Dan: Rallycross is fun but I have never had as much fun behind the wheel as I do ice racing. I do agree that the new intercooler looks strange under the Tleg hood.
I agree. Rally Cross is great fun, but Ice Racing...due to the wheel to wheel action and much higher speeds.....doesn't compare
Just remember, RallyCross is a great tool to use to continue your car control education. Low cost and low risk seat time should never be discarded. Not that either of you have any more to learn about car control......
