Ok I had a very bad pull to the right on accelleration, and a little pull to the right on braking, I had the car in for allignment, nothing wrong. I had the tires balanced, that didnt help. They said the brakes have about 10% left on them, but the calipers arent sticking or seizing up.They aslo told me I had to replace the rotor too, does that make sense, its Tires plus, A BREAK JOB THERE IS $1200, for 05 STi. What could it be? I am leaving a 8pm tonite and I dont know if I should drive the car. Does anyone know someone reasonable to change front pads today, or early this evening in the Nort Suburbs. Morries doesnt have a appointment till next week.

wings man, someone on here will be able to change your pads for you. Once you've done them once you can do them a thousand times over.

$1200 is a complete joke. If you were to pay that then you'd better be bending over with some lube!

Seriuosly man, a couple of wrenches and you can have those pads changed over yourself. Go pick up the pads.

As for replacing the rotors... Stick your figner through the wheel and run your finger from the inside of the rotor...to the outside. Is there large ridges or just small ones? If they haves large ridges on them then yup, they need to be replaced.

If you were near me I could replace all four rotors and new pads in under 2 hours including smoke breaks.

On another note....10% you have time left...the car is perfectly safe to drive. When you hit the brakes do you feel a pulsating through the brake pedal? Do you hear a metal against metal squeal? If none of those, your brakes are perfectly fine to drive on. Believe me!

Keep in mind, STi rotors are VERY expensive.

Its been making a pulsing noise, and a metal against metal noise since the day I bought it,(14,000 miles) Morries BP told me it was normal for STi brakes because of the aggresive breaks.

Then it is a possibility that agressive pads can make a noise...I remember my old STi never did though.

Readymix is right, STi Rotors are expensive but NOT $1200

Nope, they are 401.73 each for the fronts and 375.53 each for the rear. Pads are 299.95 for the front and 229.95 for the rear. Adding up the parts for the front only and your are at 1108.41. Figure an hour of labor and you are above 1200 with tax.

If you still have warranty then bring it in. You owners manual should have wording that said you are entitled to one set of free pads (mine did). I've even seen people get rotors replaced under warranty that wore out to soon.

you can get cheaper, better pads. I just helped a buddy of mine get some hawk HPS's for an STi for less than half that pad cost. you can just get them off of tirerack.com

you're hosed on new rotors though, no matter what a rotor that fits the brembo gran turismo brake (what the STi and evo have) is always expensive
