Anybody have any luck negotiating a deal on gold plus added security at any of the local dealerships? I know most people don't pay full retail for these warranties and that the dealer has discretion to sell them for whatever they like. There are some dealers offering them online at a pretty serious discount, but for some reason purchasing it online/over the phone makes me nervous. I got a quote at Bloomington Subaru awhile ago which was substantially above retail, talked to another guy at Brooklyn Park who never called me back, so I'm not sure what to do. My bumper to bumper warranty expires at the end of the month, so I sort of have to move quickly. I realize I'm not holding any cards to negotiate because I am not purchasing a new car and am not a regular customer, but I really don't want to pay the full retail price. Any ideas?
You can always purchase online with a credit card and check the validity with Subaru after the purchase.
Yeah I actually got a quote from an out of state dealer online and was able to use that to negotiate with a local dealer. They said they got in trouble with Subaru for selling warranties online out of state in the past so that kind of scared me off the online deal. Didn't get it quite as cheap but I think I got a good deal. I didn't have time to worry about if it was authentic or not because my new car warranty expires today.
