Question about a downpipe

    on an 06 WRX if you have a short down pipe. Will it fit to the stock pipes or do you Need a race pipe to make it work?

    You need any last cat pipe of 02-05 wrx length. You could use a "race pipe" or you could use a stock 02-05 wrx last cat (gutted or not), etc...

    My guess is your talking about the TXS shorty d/p? If so, im sure the diameter of that pipe is much bigger than any stock piece and you would probably have a leak.

    ^word. any other one tho... stromung, scoobysport, bosal, prodrive?, oakos, etc... mates up with the stock last cat.

    I think tsx downpipe tapers to 3". Just get a tsx midpipe and you can use any axleback

    You talking about the stealthback? There are 3" and 2.5" versions, and both will mate to a stock axleback.

    But the thing to remember with the TXS pipes is that they only fit TXS pipes. You can not use a TXS DP with anything other than the TXS cat/race pipes and then the rest of the mid pipe. Only axle back sections are interchangeable.

    Let me also point out that stock axle backs are terrible with anything bigger then a TD04. I know from experience.

    Yeah, they're even terrible with a TD04. They significantly limit the amount of boost you can run. Even the STI axleback is quite an improvement.
