Hey, When you guys/gals changed over your shocks/springs did you cut your bump stops? Front and back? I have had my new set up for over a month and at first i thought it was just settling in but the noises are staying and even getting louder. I checked and rechecked it and the only thing i can think of is the bumpstops. FYI--03 Bugeye Sedan, Tokico HP Blues, Tanabe GF210 Anything else i should be checking? Thanks in advance!
Didn't cut my bump stops. Your bump stops shouldn't make a creaking noise anyway since you will only hit them during large suspension travel. Should sound like a loud, sharp noise when you do. Try spraying lube into the piston of the struts by lifting up the plastic cover. How much is your drop right now?
Yeah, you'll know if you hit your bump stops, the car will jolt and make a loud racket. Sounds like you just need to go back and ensure everything is tight. And didn't cut mine when I put in my crucial racing springs.
Could be many things. Loose upper mounts, loose knuckle bolts, loose shock stem nut.... Check and re-check, something is probably loose.
Depends on your drop. For most street applications, no but cutting it isn't hard either. It's really just a big piece of foam of some sort. I would only cut it if your drop is really low (like over 2 inches) or if you do a drop and plan to be going over a ton of bumpy roads.
agreed a kabillion % I assume we're talking about front?? I the strut perch lined up correctly? washer in place? Strut torqued correctly to the top hat?
Yeap, its the front, driver side. Most likely i will be calling you up and getting it checked. I'm still an amatuer so i think i may have left out a few steps. Will check it out this weekend and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice guys!
