Car is and 02 WRX. I put Eibach prokit springs on the stock struts about a year ago. My question is. How long should the struts last with these springs. I thought they would be shot by now but they seem to be fine. Any input is appreciated.
That really depends on how many miles you put on the car, how you typically drive, and what types of roads you drive on (curvy, highway, etc). The prokits will certainly take life off of your struts...but trying to quantify that in to "they will last xxxx more miles" is going to be impossible.
yea we can't even fathom a guess without more info like nate said - how many miles were on the car when you installed the springs?
the stock struts had about 80k when i put them on and since I have put about 15k on the springs. mostly freeway driving to and from work. nothing too bumpy
Daily driving you will probably get quite a bit more life out of them. Worst case scenario is you end up picking up some aftermarket struts (KYB AGX or similar). I am very happy to have between 70-80k on my AGXs with a pretty aggressive drop, and they still are going strong.
No. I am using JDM V5 STi pink springs. The springs I am using are much stiffer than the stock springs that on my car and also sit about 2" lower. From what I have gathered the big issue with aftermarket springs on a stock strut is with the changed amount of strut travel and the valving inside the strut not being designed for it, leading to excessive wear.
