First off I'm still a noob to all this turbo, uppipe downpipe stuff, so be easy on me. I had the car in the shop the other day for a little warranty issue, (a/c drain was fubared ) Anyways, I pick the car up, it seems all fixed and everything, Fast forward to tonight when I actually take the time in my endless boredom, I notice on the finished paper work it mentions they rerouted the line around the aftermarket downpipe... OK so I bought the car used, I had the cel light on the car come on shortly after getting it, they said it was something like O2 high output spike... Anyways so the do work on the car to fix this, the mechanic mentions something about the car having a aftermarket downpipe at some point, he did not say it was still on the car. So now here I sit, and it appears that I have an aftermarket downpipe, how do I know if this is true, I suppose I could try and take a picture somehow, can anyone ID it then? Would I be able to tell if it's catted or not.... Which leads me to wonder about my uppipe, is there a way to tell if this is stock? too I suspect that one is still stock, I suppose there is no real way to know if it's has a cat anymore unless I take it off.... I suppose I could talk to the mechanic on monday.... Anyone know how to find a previous owner of a car? I'd really like to talk to him, so I could know the history of this car. Not that this is a bad thing. Help me.
From my knowledge, a CEL shouldn't appear when you have a stock uppipe/downpipe installed. If it once had an aftermarket uppipe/downpipe, it should have had a CEL when you test drove your car already. But to be sure, bring your car over to Firestone and have some guys check it out.
ya, just take some pics or show up out at firestone. As for the cel, I drove my completely catless car for 2 weeks before I got the cel, it has alot to do with how you drive that car. If you drive alot of freeway stuff, it will show up a bit earlier. Russ
Well see that's the thing I only got the cel once, then the dealer fixed it, honestly I don't know what they did, but them I noticed invoice said it was aftermarket. Anyways, I've been out to firestone a couple times, I can't make it this weeek because I have to work, I realized on my way to work today that my camera is in my car, so I take a pic and put it online in a bit Cliff notes 1. blah, blah, blah 2. Ill go take a pic 3. .... 4. Profit???
This thought crossed my mind orginally but, that wasn't on the part list when they fixed the cel light, not that I can remember what exatly was, some sensor, And the fact that that was back in December, and this invoice was from wedsnesday.... Enough screwing around, I'll go see if I can take some pics of it...
i unplugged my computer when i was TRYING to put in my S-AFC, and i havent had a CEL in 4 weeks 500+ miles...knock on wood
Atleast I pretty sure this is the down pipe ) I have hi res pics of all of these in case it's needed, but I think they look pretty good for their little size.
Alright, Alright I finally have most of the story.... As I previously suspect my car had been modified to FMIC and a bigger turbo, along with supporting mods, such as exhaust and fuel management... I have questions about how well of a tuner the previous owner was, and I think the dealership probably does too. Anyways it seem the previous owner paid the dealship to return the car back to an unmodified state, so they know the history of the car, which I guess until today, I never really asked I guess, but everything makes sense now. The downpipe is indeed a stock pipe, the reference to the aftermarket pipe was because at one point the car did have a aftermarket DP. Anyways all said and done it doesnt matter, my car runs great, no longer burns oil and **** it I love this **** car. The day will come, this car will once again be modded, right now it's bone stock, and I'll leave it that way, for some time, but the planning in in process. } Thanks for your help guys
