Ok, I got the thing off, replacing gaskets to fix leak (hopefully). Putting it back on, the service manual says 26ft lbs of torque. Now, do I want to let it get warm and then retorque? or am I just g2g after it's installed and torqued down? Thanks, - jfk
i always go back over it and make sure its still tight. not necessarily when its warm but the day after or so.
you got a exhaust leak? do you know its coming from your headers? there is a lot of gaskets on the exhaust system. if you replaced the leaking one and still have a leak it probably wasn't the leaking one and there is more.
I hit peak boost the other day and heard my exhaust get louder...like a leak louder. But, I've been trying to find a vacuum leak for 2 months now and I can't find one in any of the hoses. So, I replaced all the manifold gaskets and crosspipe gaskets. So, they're all new now, but I think I still have vacuum leak and it's really starting to piss me off.
The tbe looks fine from what I can see. Haven't looked at the turbo really. I've taken the IC apart and put it back on there a couple times lately with the same results. Things looked good in my opinion.
I've tried it...and didn't see anything...except for smoke, but not out of anything except the exhaust. :-/
Then are you sure you're hearing a leak or going parnoid?(Seems to happen to me alot) After what did you start hearing this leaking noise?
Although I don't have a lean code anymore, I am running lean. I've been logging with learning view tool, and my learning is all jacked up. I see 14.99 at idle (#A). It's not that I'm hearing it...it's just there. I heard it the other day when I went WOT to test my peak boost, which I am hitting. After replacing the gaskets today, installing whiteline steering rack bushings, and installing my perrin front sway bar, I went for a test drive. I went WOT and didn't hear any fluctuations in my exhaust. It sounded like normal. But, I am still running (false) lean, due to a vacuum leak somewhere which I cannot locate. I do have leaking Valve Cover Gaskets. Which I have the stuff to fix it with, but I'm not really sure I want to do it. also, the car just smells rich. I could probably light a match behind my exhaust and have a pretty sweet blowtorch :-/ Should the inside of the headers be white-ish? Mine are, just wondering if that's normal.
