What should I do with GT?

  1. Ask for the stock clutch and flywheel and call it even.

So here's my question for you guys. As you know, I'm building an ej235t. I have been waiting on parts forever from both TWE and from Garage Tuning. I finally got my stuff from TWE (although shipped to my house in IL when I specifically asked them to ship it to Mike's place). So that was a big problem from them... and I got it now when I ordered it on march 3rd and told them I would need everything by april 19th.

But that isn't the problem anymore. The problem is from GT (garage tuning). I ordered a 93 JDM WRX tranny from them for a very good price. It also came with 4/2 pot brakes and everything needed to swap it in. I also ordered a ACT clutch and lightened flywheel. I waited and waited and called and sent messages and he assured me it would be there in time. Then after that time came along I waited even more. Finally Mike gets a call about a tranny being sent to his shop. :cheers2: I'm happy!!! So I get to Mike's place and I look at the pallet and ask where everything else is. "That's all that arrived." **** **** GOD DAMN MOTHER****ING ****!!!! (I wonder what will be blocked by the swear filter on that one).

So I call them up and this is what I get from them... "I oversold my transmissions and had to send you an upgraded one, that's a RA tranny. What I think would be fair is that you use the stock clutch and flywheel on that transmission and that would make us even." So what he wants me to do is pay 3 grand for a RA tranny with 4/2 pot brakes. My biggest problem is that this isn't what we agreed on. I didn't call him up and give him permission to upgrade me at my expense. I asked for a 93 wrx tranny so I wouldn't have to spend that much money on just a tranny. And here's the kicker, there is no clutch and flywheel currently attached to the tranny  . What do you guys think I should do. See Poll.

That's what I'm thinking. The PITA that goes with that is I won't have a good tranny in the car and run the risk of blowing the stock one (then I would be out of 500 bucks from selling it).

I'd stop thinking about asking questions...the time for discussion is over. What you should be doing is packing a bag for the next 3 days and making a trip down there to ransack the place and get in the owner's face. You paid for item "A" you got "B" and it wasn't half of what you expected...and this was after numerous phone calls, much waiting, and so on. He should have said..."Sorry, we don't have it. I'll refund your money if you want, or we can just exchange it with an RA tranny at your cost." He shipped you something you didn't order...I would have refused the shipment and then cancelled payment to them through my credit card.

I think at a minimum, I will ask for the stock flywheel and still get the upgraded clutch. But my biggest problem is time. My car has been taken apart since the beginning of March and I really want to drive it. So we're for sure now going to put the motor on the RS tranny and I'm just going to baby the shifts. My guess is that it will be at least another month until I see the rest of the parts I ordered

Unless you're making gobs of torque, the RS tranny should hold up well to daily driving and light racing. It's "Tranny shock" that destroys transmissions.

And post about your situation on NASIOC, WRXfanatics, I-Club, etc. Everyone loves to hate bad vendors.

I really don't want to piss them off though. Although... it might take a little bashing to get what I asked for. I'll wait until I get a response from them, then take action.

Keep the tranny if it's better, but demand the rest of the stuff as well. It's not your fault they sold more inventory than they had.

    ^True Dat!

wow, that REALLY sucks. i cant say that i have had any better luck with GT. i placed my order for V5 springs prolly the same week as you did. and i havent even seen a tracking number yet. i PM him every day asking for a tracking number.

i thnk you should get on the phone and start yellin. they didnt even ask you at alll about upgrading the tranny or switching your upgraded clutch for an oem one. thats BS. he just assumed it would be ok, but with your setup a upgraded clutch is fairly neccesary (if you wanna go anywhere). if youc all him push his buttons on my V5 springs too!

This is the message I sent him the night he told me about the RA tranny thing. He asked me to send him a list of everything I need, so I posted what he said he would include and my response.
