I know others have more than likely already asked but I would like to know who makes a quiet but resonable catback? I've been listening to sound clips but wanna know first hand which is best.

IMO, everyone has their opinion on 'quiet'
Best to listen in person and judge yourself.

I think the wrx's catback is quiet.

A nice quiet catback is the Greddy EVO2. Looks nice, surprisingly quiet. I have one, might want to trade for something louder...Borla Hush.

I was thinking something with a stock like idle but really comes alive when you get into the revs.

the prodrive sounds really nice IMO, not loud when on the gas, you can hear more of the rumble, idle isn't loud either, but a tad bit louder than stock for sure

I'm going to start with the TXS Stealth Back with the stock axle-back and go from there. If I'm in the mood for a bit more rumble, I'll swap out the axle-back for a prodrive.

    imo from quiet to loud:
stock wrx, stock sti, maddad whisper 2.5", prodrive/MD whisper 3", spt, borla hush... but like Nuke said, you gotta hear it.
also, adding/subtracting cats and such will have small effect. I ended up very happy with a catless MD whisper 2.5"... sounds stock at idle, isnt drown out by the header noise in the mid range and comes alive in the upper rpms.

I have the cobb tuning catback on my sti and it was really quiet until I added a catless downpipe. Now its relatively quiet but loud when I lay on it.

i'm very happy with the spt i picked up from the dealer... not too flashy and tollerable rumble at any revs. i have a wagon, so a little more cabin noise than a sedan

+1 on the Prodrive, I love mine. Nice and burbly at idle but not too loud. You can hear it when you get into the throttle, but it's not horribly loud either. Nice exhaust tone too.

I just installed a Tenabe hyper medalian today and I will have to say that it is about the quietest exhaust I have next to Russ's magnaflow TXS setup.

    Car was:

    04 STi
    cobb DP with cat

Thanks! Took over a year to get it sounding how I like it.
I was pretty suprised how agile the wagon was. Crazy body roll but pretty damn quick around the cones. Lemme know when they're uploaded. id love to see them.

Op, sound like you want prodrive axleback, spt catback, or maybe Cobb (a bit louder but sounds really really nice).

ditto. the cobb is louder than some. on a scale from 1 to ten, 1 being stock and 10 being blitz NUR spec or Invidia I'd give the cobb an even 5.

Its louder than a TXS/prodrive or a mad dad whisper, but all the extra noise is the best damn exhaust sound money can buy. I love the sound of the cobb catless on 2.5L cars, I didn't even consider anything else when I was shopping.

this video sums it up although keep in mind each exhaust sounds a bit louder and edger in it than any of them do in real life.

this is what my cobb catless TBE sounds like in my car with the windows down sounds like:

I just got the Greddy EVO installed yesterday by Nathan ((wrxboy2003)) He did a great job by the way. ((thanks!)) I think it sounds great, good rumble when hitting the gas but quiet at steady speed. Didnt notice it all on the hiway. It has a way too big muffler tip on it which I dont like much but I got it used. You can hear it or give it a try if you want.

^^^^ Dougs' setup sounded very nice once installed... I was thinking this cannon is gonna be majorly loud, but once it was installed I was surprised.. it was quieter then my hand built Magnaflow setup...
