Make your own. I recommend a Vibrant muffler as they keep the sound down well, until you get on it.

Really love the sound of my Maddad Whisper. Prodrive also has a nice axleback, if you can find one that is.

Is the maddad whisper quiet enough to pass exhaust testing?

Hmm, not sure I guess. What does it take to pass said testing?

If you'd like meet up and listen to my car purrr let me know. I'm running a full Maddad turbo back with Maddads 3" EWG DP w/high flow cat and the Whisper.

I know there are youtube clips with the Maddad Whisper as well.

You could bolt your stock exhaust back up and take it for inspection.

Were you getting on it at all when they noticed?

The spintec mufflers keep the noise down under load, but have plenty of rap at low rpms.

    Stock === not much fun.

there has got to be some systems out there that let the car breath but still keep it under the radar (noise wise)......

There are a few nice quiet exhausts out there.
I think I heard someone say a Maddad Whisper catback is amazingly quiet, even when mated to a huge 4" bellmouth.
I've never had a problem with my Scoobysport, but it's not 3" either.

I think I seen someone post the exact ordinance pertaining to exhaust, and it specificly said that it cannot crackle or pop...if I remember correctly, if you have a cat in the system (a high flow will do), that would take care of that part...I know mine does not crackle or pop, and uses a Stromung high flow cat in between the Scoobysport DP and the scoobysport catback.

...Also, if you do things to draw attention to yourself otherwise (as in, the way you drive;) you will probably have problems no matter what exhaust you go with.

This is a full exhaust not just a straight pipe? I ran into a similiar experience, threatened to give me a ticket for being too loud. I told him it was brand new which he didnt believe so he looked and then shut his mouth. I have yet to see an officer whip out a decibel meter and test the actual levels. I doubt its louder then any given harley. I say leave it as is, but I enjoy arguing with the occasional officer.

This depends on where you are located. In some places it used to be a decibel test under XX amount at YY feet distance. You could probably look it up online. Some other places (like where I live) went to a more subjective method of if the officer feels it is too loud than it is too loud. In which case my ideal method of bypassing this is to get and exhaust that can be loud but not loud enough to attract unwanted attention.

I have been pulled over for an STi catback before. That was NA so it was very raspy. I would like to step it up to a GeNome muffler next. Possibly with a SPt mid pipe.

Jeremy, did you get an actual ticket? I've been pulled over a few times for the ebay exhaust, but never a ticket.

Be weary of the design of a quiet "performance exhaust." For instance, the Borla Hush runs out of flow quite easily.

Just ordered my Whisper with a V2 DP. Rich over and Daddy's was easy to deal with. Looking forward to it.
