I'm not sure yet but I believe my stock LGT VF40 is blowing a good amount of oil and I'm going to look at it soon. Just seeing if anyone has had experience rebuilding the turbo and have any tips.

Buy a better turbo, from what I've read.

VF 40s can't make that much power and have a less than stellar reliability record.

I'm nearly certian a vf40 cant be rebuilt, not that it'd be worth it if it could.

It costs approximately $350 to rebuild and balance a PTE SC61 (As long as the wheels are reusable), so I would imagine it would cost around that for the same service. With a turbo that small it really is a much more cost effective to upgrade. Us Subaru guys are lucky to have so many bolt-in options.

If you'd like I can check pricing for a price of a Blouch, or even a PTE.
