i lost they keys to my 2008 sti and was wondering do I have to have the car at a dealership for them to make me a key, or can I just go there with the title and they make me one? Any information would be great! Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, just go to the dealership with anything that proves ownership of the car (Insurance, Title, etc..) and they'll make you a key for a couple hundred dollars.

Take this information with a grain of salt.

08 STi will have an immobilizer. Which means yes, it has to be programmed to the car for the engine to run. Also, if none of the keys that are programmed to the car can be found, the security module (IIRC) has to be sent in to Subaru to be reprogrammed.

A dealer can definitely get the key code, and IIRC Minnetonka Morries can cut from that (we can't here at Miller Hill Subaru, we send out to a locksmith). That would unlock the door and unlock the steering column, but will not start the car.

    Push button start?

Our 2002 and 2005 both came with three keys (one is a limited function valet, but you can still start the car) and I am virtually positive our 1997 did too. Our Escape with push button start came with just two fobs. When I bought my Legacy, part of the deal was an extra key, so I actually went home with four (I knew they were not cheap to duplicate).
