snell 95 helmets are no longer allowed for cars running under 14s too correct? thats what i saw on mnsc, atleast thats what an email said that somebody got.
Effective January 1, 2007, per NHRA rules the Snell 95 Helmets EXPIRE and WILL NO LONGER BE VALID for drag racing use. These helmets will not be acceptable for anyone who runs 13.99 or quicker in the 1/4 mile. Effective January 1, 2007, NHRA acceptable helmets are as follows: Snell K98, 2000 or 2005. Please check your helmet and if it's a Snell 95 you will need to replace it prior to your racing at any NHRA sanctioned track in 2007. Again, the Snell 95 Helmets WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER if you run quicker than 13.99 in the 1/4 mile or 8.59 in the 1/8 mile after January 1, 2007!!
Snell 95 helmets will expire for any kind of motorsports competition on jan 1st, no sanctioning league of any kind will allow them. they'll still be DOT legal helmets (can use for motorcycling etc) but no more racing. Snell rated helmets only keep their ratings for 10 years.
^ yea i know, i gota find a new one for next year. Zak do u know if there is any places in the cities that actually carry a selection of helmets? id like to actually try one on before i purchase this time around.
yea, well id be looking for a SA helmet this time, so im not sure many motorcycle shops would carry those, also zak do u know if there is any rules about closed vs open faced in "most" auto-x's/HPDEs? cause i would also really like to get a open face this time around.
you wont need a closed face unless you want to use the same helmet for karting or riding a motorcycle. There aren't any rules against closed vs open face if it fits Snell or FIA certification. bobs cycle supply is the best place to buy a helmet int he twin cities. Lots of choices from $50-$600. You might want to check out a standard snell 2005 HJC open face, should be around $75.
Since you are looking for a SA helmet, your choices are limited... I bought mine at Lou Fegers a few years back. Bob's doesn't carry SA helmets last I checked.
^ thanks guys! there isnt many open face SA helmets out there but i found a couple that wernt as spendy as the bell, i think i may end up going with a pyrotect for like $150
so is anybody still up for this? I think the frist day is April 15th on a sunday!( yes sunday!!) I'll probably head down there with Nuke if he still going. I might run to if I can get there early enough to beat all the 16 sec honda's at the gate.
denis kirk is like 40min north of the cities. Would be an easy drive from duluth. also... drag racing = weaksauce. sorry, had to be said.
Rabbit, I'm going but not sure if I'm going to running since I still have to get my clutch repair. If I can get the repair done soon then I might run.
Hey, I'll take you home after your clutch goes out again  jk, hurry up and get it fix, the clutch feels too stiff
haven't figured that out yet. Most of you guys are from stp. So it would have to be somewhere in stp. What about the Target off White Bear Ave and hwy 94 around 5ish?
I suggest that you guys don't meet there. Last year we got kicked out by the POLICE. There will be too many other people. Try mCdonalds or something. Atleast it'll seem that you guys are having breakfast.
