so for some reason the laptop (vista) almost never connects with the ecu. just sits and flickers without being able to find it.

drivers maybe?

 

try reinstalling? Correct port selected? Arent the drivers installed when u install ECUFlash and RomRaider

 

i just re-installed it all so we shall see I guess.

 

I believe in Vista you need to run the Application as Admin.

Also, make sure you have the right COM port selected in the logger.

 

Mine works with Vista.

 

Ditto and I turned off the UAC crap

 

i only have one com port choice. com 3

I do run it in admin, ... im also running the new release if that makes a difference.

all definitions have been placed where they need to be .

 

Make sure when you install ECUFlash that you accept all (4 I think?) prompts to install unsigned drivers.

If it doesn't give you these prompts, you may want to uninstall, look at device manager, and delete the devices manually before reinstalling.

 

click on that com port. Mine only works on 4 and it always only starts with 3. once I plug it into to the car and click on it then 4 apears. hope that helps. Ive got vista too. romraider is Great!

 

Good point. You need to have ECUFlash installed as it comes bundled with the Tactrix cable drivers.
