Im in the market for some new rotors. Did some searching and came across these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRONT-REAR-...pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr Anyone know much about em? Price seems pretty good for rotors and ceramic pads. Need some opinions before i decide to purchase or not.
The brakes are the most important part of your car. Do you really want to take the chance on ebay stuff? Not to mention, drilled and slotted rotors not neccessary and are more prone to cracking. There's a lot of info out there showing that there are not any real advantages over standard rotors. Check these out, Centric is the parent company of Powerslot and StopTech.: I just picked up this set from KNS Brakes...http://www.knsbrakes.com/carItemDetails.php?car_id=1210&item_id=36795 They also have a "standard" rotor setup for a little less.. http://www.knsbrakes.com/carItemDetails.php?car_id=1210&item_id=36783
But how much is your life worth?? You are looking at 550ish for a complete setup with hawk hps pads. I am about to get a group buy going again for some frozen rotors. I am looking to get it set up and running by middle of next week. We should be able to get 10% off of a single set (2 rotors and pads) and 15% off for a complete (4 rotors and 2 sets of pads), and maybe a bit better. I need to call Mark tomorrow to start setting up the details. At this point, I have seen sets go for well over 100k miles, pads that lasted 80k miles. So you take your $4-5-600 frozen rotors setup and spread that out over 100k miles and they pay for themselves. They are the only thing I will ever run on my car. It is a large initial investment, but they work, they don't crack (if you go slotted or crossdrilled) and they are almost impossible to warp. Russ
valid point... Id be more than interested in a set if you can get a group buy going. Figures crossed for awesome discount
I love that the eBay seller says that drilled holes prevent warping. I have a set of Wilwood drilled rotors that say otherwise. You'll get them warm from use, and then you'll hit an icy cold slush puddle or you will plow through some deep snow and pack cold snow against them, and they'll warp or crack. Solid or slotted. Slotted isn't really necessary, a good solid face rotor should do you just fine.
Also a bump for frozen rotors! Also, why on the ebay page does it say they fit 03 but not 02? Im confused..
I recommend frozen rotors to everyone regardless of the car. Love mine and coupled with my hawk hp+ pads i just got stops like a champ every time predictably.
Rear brake pads are different on the 03 and some of the late 02 models, and since everything comes in a package deal, you will need to specify year. Russ
I have dba 4k rotors. I dont think there worth the money it was 300 for the fronts. They cool very quickly and I stop on a dime but not worth it.
