I went to Missouri this week... while I'm there I leave my car outside and it rains one night. The next morning I find rust all over all 4 of my rotors, I took a picture of it with my cell phone. Does this just happen? Is this weird or what? It only happened that one night, my car is usually kept in the garage. Any ideas on why this happened? thanks Mark
It's normal. After I wash my car in the drive way, rust forms by the time I'm done. Should be a super thin layer that will go away after normal driving and braking.
yeah it went away after braking down the driveway, just never happened to me on any of my cars before... that I've noticed.
Subarus seem to get that surface rust on the rotors faster than most, for whatever reason. It's not an issue though. It's more obvious the more open your wheels are too.
That has happened to me many times before and it doesn't hurt anything. It doesn't cause rotor deterioration as long as you drive your car frequently to stop build-up.
